2 CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION Scientist and Health Care Provider Track: This conference focuses on dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), also known as Lewy body dementia. Lewy body dementia, which includes DLB and Parkinson s disease with dementia, is the second most common type of progressive dementia after Alzheimer s disease. This conference involves an international group of DLB experts as well as numerous other interested clinicians and scientists to provide updates on the key aspects of the disorder (including the cognitive, neuropsychiatric, neuroimaging, motor, sleep, autonomic and sensory manifestations). A particular focus of this conference is on the prodromal aspects of DLB. Updates on the genetics, biofluid correlates, molecular biology, animal models and neuropathologic characterization, as well as information on current symptomatic therapies and future potential disease-modifying therapies, are also presented. Patient and Care Partner Track: The conference also features a Patient and Care Partner Track, a two-day educational conference occurring alongside the scientific conference. This track is tailored to families, care partners, interested professionals, and those living with Lewy body dementia. See the Patient and Care Partner Track page for additional information. CONFERENCE LEARNING OBJECTIVES Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to: List the core clinical features of DLB Identify the key findings of DLB based on neuropsychological assessment and neuroimaging studies Identify the differences between DLB and other forms of dementia and discuss the clinical and pathological overlap between these disorders Explain drug and non-drug options for managing patients with DLB Articulate what resources or information may be the most critical for patients and families dealing with DLB Attendance at this Mayo conference does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this conference. 5 Patient and Care Partner Track Wednesday and Thursday, December 2 3, 2015 The Patient and Care Partner Track is a two-day educational conference occurring alongside the scientific conference. This track is tailored to families, care partners, interested professionals, and those living with dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). Content ranges from basic to advanced and is presented in a clear, practical format with ample time for questions and conversation with experts in the field. A special focus is on therapies and tools that optimize quality of life for the family system. Attendees also have the option of attending the Scientist and Health Care Provider Track sessions on Tuesday December 1. See a listing of the Day One Health Care Provider Track sessions on the conference website.
