2 MEETING DESCRIPTION The Annual Scientific Meeting of the Greater New York and New England Chapters of the SNMMI is a continuing education course designed for nuclear medicine physicians, radiologists, technologists, and scientists. Nationally recognized faculty will provide attendees with information that will enhance clinical practice. This year s program will review nuclear medicine applications to such fields as cardiology, neurology, oncology, and therapy. Advances in topics such as PET, PET/CT, SPECT/CT, infection imaging, PET/MRI and molecular targeting and therapy will also be included. CALL FOR ABSTRACTS The Scientific Program Committee of the Greater New York and New England Chapters, Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging invites the submission of original abstracts for the Northeast Regional Scientific Meeting to be held November 6-8, 2015 at the Newport Hyatt Hotel in Newport, RI. Papers are invited on all aspects of Nuclear Medicine. All accepted presentations will be in poster format (4 vertical x 8 horizontal boards). An award ceremony will be held on November 5:00 PM for the best posters as determined by the Judging Panel. Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words and must be prepared using standard word processing software (Microsoft Word is preferred). All authors names and affiliations should be listed immediately following the title. Tables and figures should be included in the Results section. Please include the corresponding author s name, address, and contact information. ACCOMMODATIONS: A block of rooms has been reserved at the beautiful and newly renovated Hyatt Regency Newport Hotel & Spa. The Hotel overlooks stunning Newport Harbor and has an indoor pool, fitness center, and the Stillwater Spa. Hotel room reservations can be made by calling Hyatt Reservations at and identifying yourself as an attendee of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging meeting. Online reservations can be made by using the website: The Hotel will hold reduced room rates until October 5. The rate for a single or double room is $ plus tax. This is a 40% discount off the regular rate. TARGET AUDIENCE: This meeting is intended for all nuclear medicine physicians, scientists, physicists, technologists, and nursing professionals. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to: Discuss the role of PET imaging in dementia. Discuss the contributions of PET imaging to the neurosciences. Discuss the current landscape and role of PET/MRI in the clinical setting. Discuss the use of PET/MRI for head and neck cancers. Discuss the current regulatory and reimbursement challenges in nuclear medicine today. Discuss the use of cancer imaging as a biomarker in cancer drug development. Discuss the use of targeting tumor glycolysis as a new approach against cancer. Discuss the role of amyloid and tau imaging of the brain in the clinical setting. Discuss the role of SPECT/CT in thyroid and parathyroid imaging. Discuss the role of parathyroid imaging from a surgeon s perspective. Discuss the use of lymphoscintigraphy in diagnosis of malignancies. Discuss altered biodistribution and incidental findings in radionuclide imaging.

4 Discuss novel tracers used in renal imaging. Discuss the identification of premotor Parkinson's disease using neuroimaging. Discuss the use of nuclear cardiology in patients with cancer. Discuss the use of nuclear cardiology in the 21 st century. Discuss the role of molecular cardiovascular imaging in the clinical setting. NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGISTS: VOICE CATEGORY A CREDITS The SNMMI, through its Verification of Involvement in Continuing Education (VOICE) program, has approved this meeting to offer continuing education hours (CEHs), final hour count TBD closer to the meeting. VOICE-approved credit is recognized by most licensure states and by the NMTCB and ARRT as Category A credit. Participants will receive CE credit for those sessions at which they were present a minimum of 80% of the session. PHYSICIAN: CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging, Inc. (SNMMI) and the New England and Greater New York Chapters, SNMMI. The SNMMI is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Self-Assessment Module (SAM) Credits In addition to CME credits, physician attendees will have the opportunity to earn SAM credits. Physicians must attend the entire session to earn SAM credits and complete the postactivity online assessment. The following sessions have submitted presentations to the American Board of Nuclear Medicine (ABNM) for SAM qualification.
