2 AOSpine Advanced Level Specimen Course Degenerative spine 3 Welcome to Poznan Dear Colleagues, On behalf of AOSpine Poland I would like to invite you to Poznan for the AOSpine Advanced Level Specimen Course. This course will emphasise on covering wide range of the theoretic and practic aspects of the degenerative disease of thoraco-lumbar spine. Participants will have the opportunity to extend their experience in the field of minimally invasive modern spine surgery techniques. The course success depends on active engagement of both faculty and all participants during the two day intense discussions and knowledge sharing with our highly experienced faculty. Sincerely, Lukasz Antolak Chairperson Szpital Chirurgii Urazowej STOCER Warsaw Poland Patrick Tropiano Educational Advisor Hopital de la Timone Marseille France
3 4 AOSpine Advanced Level Specimen Course Degenerative spine AOSpine Curriculum This educational event carries the AOSpine Curriculum logo. This indicates that the program, content, and objectives have been developed based on the Curriculum framework and that the event meets the implementation criteria defined by the AOSpine Education Commission (AOSEC). For more information, visit Course description The Course will consist of both a symposium and cadaver workshops. The symposium will be divided into lectures, case presentations and round table discussions. The theoretic part will place emphasis on small group discussions which proved to be the best way of learning and retaining the information gained at our events. The cadaver workshops will be fully packed with modern minimally invasive techniques dedicated to address different aspects of degenerative spine disease. At this Advanced Level Specimen Course there will be a lot of expert opinion, experience sharing and interaction with participants. The participants will be encouraged to play an active role during the course. Target participants This event is targeted at certified surgeons with 3 to 8 years of experience in spine surgery who are aiming to further improve their knowledge and/or specialization in the management of spinal degenerative disease with focus on minimally invasive techniques. Learning objectives After the event, participants will be able to: Master pedicle screw fixation in thoracic and lumbar spine as well as apply TLIF technique with emphasis on MIS techniques Perform lumbo-pelvic fixation implementing MIS technique of SAI screws and iliac screws insertion Manage degenerative disc disease, facet joint syndrome and spinal stenosis Understand and apply the strategy of vertebral osteotomies Evaluate and treat isthmic and degenerative spondylolisthesis Recognize the role of spinal instability and sagittal balance Manage appropriate level of thoraco-lumbar fixation and prevent adjacent level syndrome Implement solutions for the fixation of an elder spine Recognize radiological pitfalls in degenerative spine
