8 2 Aout the qulifitions 2.1 Aredittion detils Qulifitions nd Credit Frmework (QCF) The QCF reples the Ntionl Qulifitions Frmework (NQF) in Englnd nd Northern Irelnd, nd is intended to reple the regulted pillr within the Qulifitions nd Credit Frmework for Wles (CQFW). It is lso intended to lign with the Sottish Credit nd Qulifitions Frmework (SCQF). The QCF provides wy of reognising hievement through the wrd of redit for units nd qulifitions. Units within the frmework re lloted : level to indite the level of diffiulty redit vlue to indite the size of the unit. 10 hours of lerning time = 1 redit vlue. Lerning time is notionl mesure of the mount of time typil ndidte might e expeted to tke to omplete ll the lerning relevnt to hievement of the lerning outomes. It differs from Guided Lerning Hours (GLH) whih represent only those hours tutor/triner or filittor re present nd ontriuting to the lerning proess euse it tkes into ount ll lerning relevnt to the lerning outomes regrdless of where, when nd how it hs tken ple. The QCF reognises lerning y wrding redit eh time ndidte suessfully ompletes unit. Cndidtes n umulte nd trnsfer redit hievement over time. A unit is the smllest prt of lerning for whih redit is wrded. 9 2 Aout the qulifitions 2.2 Aim of the qulifitions These qulifitions hve een developed in order to equip nd qulify mentl helth workers who work speifilly with older people. These qulifitions re for everyone involved in improving nd mintining the mentl well-eing of older people, whether they re sed in helth servies, housing, soil re, dvie nd employment, edution, sport nd leisure, or the riminl justie system in the voluntry, puli or privte setors. This inludes pid stff, volunteers nd informl rers supporting nd working with older people in their own homes, in ommunity nd dy servies, hospitl nd residentil settings, housing shemes nd seure ommodtion. The qulifitions re designed to uild on the previous work nd life experienes of lerners nd re therefore relevnt to people who re new to their role s well s those who lredy hve experiene of working with older people. City & Guilds developed these qulifitions in onjuntion with Age Conern. Aim of the qulifitions These votionlly relted qulifitions hve een designed y City & Guilds in order to: meet the needs of ndidtes who work or wnt to work s mentl helth workers with older people llow ndidtes to lern, develop nd prtise the skills required for employment nd/or reer progression in the mentl helth setor ontriute to the knowledge nd understnding towrds the relted Level 3 N/SVQs in Helth nd Soil Cre, whilst ontining dditionl skills nd knowledge whih go eyond the sope of the NOS. Full qulifitions The Certifite in promoting the mentl helth nd well-eing of older people will e wrded to ndidtes on suessful ompletion of eight units s shown in the tle elow. An orgnistion tht hs not previously offered City & Guilds qulifitions must pply for pprovl to eome entre. This is known s the entre pprovl proess (CAP). Centres lso need pprovl to offer speifi qulifition. This is known s the qulifition pprovl proess (QAP). In order to offer this qulifition, orgnistions whih re not lredy City & Guilds entres must pply for entre nd qulifition pprovl t the sme time. Existing City & Guilds entres will only need to pply for qulifition pprovl for this prtiulr qulifition.
