2 Intent and Objectives The two-day program will consist of a series of lectures by UPMC faculty and experts on the subject from outside facilities. Topics will include the technical aspects, risks, benefits and outcomes of heart and lung transplantation, heart failure surgery and the use of ventricular assist devices. Who Should Attend This course is designed for transplant surgeons, cardiologists, pulmonologists, general surgeons and thoracic surgeons; minimally invasive team members (MD, RN, PA, NP); allied health care professionals. Continuing Education Credit The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine designates this educational activity for a maximum of 14.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Other health care professional are awarded 1.4 continuing education units (CEU s) which are equal to 14.5 contact hours.
