7 Opening Keynote Speaker Janice Zimmerman MD, MCCM, MACP, FCCP Dr. Janice L. Zimmerman is currently Head of the Critical Care Division for the Department of Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital. She is Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine and Institute of Academic Medicine at the Houston Methodist Hospital, and also serves as the Director for the Pulmonary/Critical Care Fellowship Program. Dr. Zimmerman completed her medical training, residency in Internal Medicine, and fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. She is a Master of the American College of Physicians and Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). She was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from SCCM in 2001 and 2013 and the Joseph and Rae Brown Award in Dr. Zimmerman is Treasurer of the World Federation of Societies of Critical Care Medicine and Treasurer of the Pan American and Iberic Federation of Societies of Critical Care and Intensive Care. She has been a member of the Surviving Sepsis Campaign Committee since its inception and serves as a liaison to the American Heart Association Emergency Cardiovascular Care Science Committee. She was one of the originators of the Fundamental Critical Care Support course for SCCM. She regularly teaches at regional, national and international critical care meetings and board review courses and publishes peer-reviewed articles and book chapters.

8 Closing Keynote Speaker Ruth M. Kleinpell PhD, RN, FAAN, FCCM Professor Ruth Kleinpell is currently the Director of the Center for Clinical Research and Scholarship at Rush University Medical Center and a Professor at Rush University College of Nursing in Chicago Illinois. She is certified as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner and maintains active practice. She has served as a Visiting Professor at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing since Dr. Kleinpell is an experienced researcher, clinician and educator in the areas of acute and subacute care and advanced practice nursing roles. She presents and publishes widely and is a member of the editorial boards of the American Journal of Critical Care, Critical Care Medicine, Journal of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and Nurse Practitioner. She is a Council Board member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, a Board member of Critical Care Medicine Subspecialty, American Board of Internal Medicine; the Institute of Medicine of Chicago; and the Collegiate Commission on Nursing Education. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, the Institute of Medicine of Chicago, and the American College of Critical Care Medicine. She is currently the President-Elect of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and will serve as the 3 rd nurse president of the organization in its 45 year history in 2017.

9 Poster Session Call for Abstracts Eligibility Criteria Practitioners from all disciplines of Critical Care Medicine who fulfill the criteria listed below are encouraged to apply Critical care medicine research completed within the previous 12 months. This research may have previously been presented in abstract form or as a poster, but cannot be a published peerreviewed manuscript Research in Progress and Case Reports will be accepted, but are not eligible for the Symposium Awards Application Process All application materials must be submitted online by midnight, August 5th, 2016 Selection Process The abstracts will be reviewed by the SCCM Texas Chapter Research Committee, made up of multidisciplinary chapter members Chapter members will be notified no later than August 16th, 2016 regarding acceptance of their abstracts Symposium Awards Up to $500 in reimbursement for poster costs and the travel fees for SCCM Texas Chapter Symposium for Completed Research only Two Separate Categories for the Symposium Award Up to 2 years of clinical experience for Completed Research More than 2 years of clinical experience for Completed Research You can present your research at the SCCM Chapter Meeting, and then still present at the Annual SCCM Congress.
