2 ABOUT SRF OUR MISSION The Spinal Research Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to improving spinal health through research, education and patient advocacy. RESEARCH For more than 15 years, SRF has dedicated over 50,000 hours to research for the purpose of driving innovation and proving the effectiveness of surgical and nonsurgical treatments. We ve built a national network of distinguished partners, consisting of the nation s leading spine, orthopedic and research practices and together; we are driving innovation and advancing spinal treatments and techniques. Through our research, we are proving what works opening the door for patients to receive the most effective treatments and achieve the best possible patient outcomes. EDUCATION SRF brings together patient experiences, medical expertise and research findings to offer much needed support to patients as they embark on their spinal health journey. We capture the issues, challenges and obstacles that patients face and use our expertise to provide meaningful, accessible information to prevent injuries, help patients achieve improved spinal health, strengthen provider-patient relationships and reduce uncertainty and anxiety. SPINAL CHAMPION: A person who has achieved an improved quality of life through treatment for a spinal injury or disorder. Our Spinal Champion Programs provide much needed relief from the emotional and physical challenges that spinal patients face. Through our outreach and patient support initiatives, we have built an active community that brings together spinal patients, allowing them to share their experiences, offer support and find strength and comfort in others who are battling similar challenges. For those who have suffered from neck or back pain and overcome it through either nonsurgical or surgical treatments, the We ve Got Your Back event series is a celebration of their journey and success! ADVOCACY The journey to spinal health is not one that can be made alone. The Spinal Research Foundation brings together patients and the nation s leading spine experts to drive unique patient support initiatives. Our efforts empower patients to take an active role in their healthcare, help them become self-advocates and provide cutting-edge research and information they can use to make informed decisions and communicate effectively with their healthcare team.

3 Spinal injuries and disorders are much more common and have a greater impact than many people know. They impact people of all ages, ethnicities and economic situations. Onset can be sudden, or become chronic, growing worse each year. For these patients, each day means battling pain, crippling fatigue, muscle weakness, numbness and more. The Spinal Research Foundation believes that these people have the right to thrive and live free from pain. 4 ABOUT WGYB WHY BE A SPONSOR The Spinal Research Foundation s We ve Got Your Back race series is the only national event that celebrates the success of spinal patients by bringing together thousands of runners, recovering/recovered spinal patients, spinal surgeons, wellness experts, celebrities and members of the community. For nine years in multiple cities across the nation, we ve raised awareness about the widespread impact of spinal injuries and disorders, celebrated the success of spinal treatments and educated the public about the importance of spinal health. Each of our 2017 events typically consists of a timed 5K, 1 mile Fun Run, Healthy Living Festival and celebration of spinal patients in major metropolitan centers across the country. The purpose of this national event series is to: Raise funds to support the Spinal Research Foundation in our efforts improve spinal health and patient outcomes through research, education and advocacy. Celebrate Spinal Champions: people who have overcome spinal injuries and disorders through noninvasive or surgical treatment. Generate awareness about the widespread impact of spinal injuries and disorders and the significant impact they have on the quality of life and livelihood of those that are affected, both directly and indirectly. Inspire and Empower those that treat, suffer from, or have overcome spinal injuries and disorders by demonstrating that spinal health care does work, that there is hope for those living in pain and that they can overcome their disability and get back to the people and activities they love. The We ve Got Your Back race series celebrates the journey to health and represents a culture of vitality, perseverance and strength.
