Following this, there are seven topics being offered for the five small group sessions that you will participate in during this course. Out of the seven choices, choose the five topics you would most like to attend. We will then create your individualized group session schedule, and this finalized schedule for the day will be distributed to you at the registration desk on the day of the conference. The day will conclude with an opportunity to pose specific kidney-related questions from your practice to members of the teaching faculty. 3 Program Objectives At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to: evaluate a patient with a kidney stone, and advise the patient on pharmacological and life-style modifications to help reduce recurrence risk. provide an initial evaluation and therapeutic interventions for patients with abnormalities of electrolytes. manage patient s risks kidney injury from use of NSAIDS. perform initial evaluation of patients with hematuria and proteinuria. work with a nephrologist to co-manage patients on dialysis. understand patient individual learning and communication styles to imrpove patient-provider communication. answer a patient s diet questions as regards to their kidney disease. Target Audience This course is intended for primary care physicians, internal medicine physicians, nephrologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, residents in internal medicine, nephrology fellows, and other health care providers. Accreditation & Credit Designation The University of Michigan Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Michigan Medical School designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
