2 Overview The Pancreas Symposium 2017 program will review current controversies and procedures for managing benign pancreatic disease. Acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cysts are among the most complex cases that physicians are confronted with as internists, gastroenterologists and surgeons. Our internationally recognized faculty will present lectures and case presentations to help practicing physicians treat benign pancreatic disease. We are proud to have this symposium co-sponsored by The National Pancreas Foundation. Learning Objectives Discuss current evidence-based guidelines for the management of acute pancreatitis Explain how to diagnose and treat pancreatic insufficiency Discuss the diagnosis of chronic pancreatitis and when to refer patients for total pancreatectomy with autologous islet cell transplantation Review how to endoscopically manage acute recurrent pancreatitis and pancreatic pseudocysts Explore the role of genetics in acute recurrent and chronic pancreatitis Review how to diagnose and manage autoimmune pancreatitis, pancreatic cystic neoplasms and incidentally found pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors Explore the physiology of pain in pancreatitis Target Audience This activity is designed for gastroenterologists, surgeons, internists, radiologists, pathologists, RNs, PAs, NPs and other medical professionals involved in the evaluation, diagnosis and/or management of patients with benign pancreatic disease.
