2 INTRODUCTION Practical Update in Cardiology 2017 is designed to provide attendees with a comprehensive review of the latest breakthroughs and advances in cardiovascular medicine. The course will focus on practical management of common cardiovascular conditions such as coronary artery disease, atrial fibrillation, valve disease, and congestive heart failure. With a combination of didactic lectures, case presentations and panel discussion, faculty will also highlight cutting-edge therapies and discuss common challenges encountered in daily clinical practice. Objectives By attending this conference, attendees should improve their ability to: review the 2017 guidelines on the evaluation of syncope understand the importance of diet and physical activity in promoting cardiovascular health discuss new advances in the management of pulmonary embolism discuss strategies to reduce cardiovascular risk in diabetes recognize how to manage a patient with a dilated aortic root discuss how to manage new onset atrial fibrillation Target Audience This CME conference has been designed to meet the educational needs of cardiologists, cardiac care providers, internists and family practitioners. CME Accreditation and Credit Designation William Beaumont Hospital is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
