2 Course description: With the rapidly aging population and increasing life expectancy of the average older adult, we as a medical profession are facing new problems and challenges in caring for the geriatric patient. This conference will explore how to tackle these gray areas in geriatric medicine while still providing the best care for Hawai i s kupuna. Educational Objectives At the end of this educational activity, participants will be able to: n Assess elderly patients for cancer treatment using a multifaceted approach n Appropriately using the ICU for the end-of-life patient n Evaluate for decisional capacity in patients with dementia n Decide what treatment options are appropriate for the elderly patient with chronic kidney disease n Tackle common infectious disease conundrums in the geriatric patient n Recognize that sexual activity continues regardless of age and necessitates testing for all STD s in the older LGBTQ population. n Adopt strategies on how to manage and advise patients requesting physician assisted suicide Continuing Education Credit PHYSICIANS: is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
