3 Origins of Our Tobacco Cessation Program In 1899 National Jewish Health began as a refuge for destitute tuberculosis patients. At that time, tuberculosis was the #2 cause of morbidity and mortality in the US. Ranked the top Respiratory Hospital in America since 1998 by U.S. News & World Report, our focus today is on delivering preventive, personalized medicine. Our tobacco wellness program continues our heritage by focusing on the #1 cause of preventable death today tobacco use.

Our services are medically-oriented and build on our expertise as the leading respiratory center in the US for 118 years. Our faculty and staff continue to advance prevention and treatment of chronic disease through their published research. We collaborate with other non-profits to obtain funding to pursue customized cessation programs and research (e.g., pregnancy and post-partum program, American Indian program). 15 NJH Call Center Operations Inbound calls: 12,000-27,000 calls per month across all clients. Outbound calls: 19,000-39,000 per month During the CDC TIPS campaign, Nevada s volume doubles or almost triples compared to volume outside of the campaign NJH processes approximately 5,000 provider referrals each month On average, 25% of all provider referrals result in an intake or enrollment. This number varies by state and referral type. Across all clients, our agents typically convert approximately 84% of intakes into coaching. This varies by clients based on different eligibility requirements for each state.
