This figure is comparable to State rate of coverage. In 2004, about 61 of Mason County adults reported that they had seen a dentist within the last year. The State offers an enhanced reimbursement dental program (ABCD) for Medicaid-eligible children under the age of 5 years. Participation rates for both programs has been slowly increasing. A large majority of these women receive prenatal care starting in their first trimester. In addition, the fetus is monitored for healthy growth and development. Untreated infections, such as STD s, can results in early term labor. In 2006, 20 of Mason County women over the age of 50 years had never had a mammogram. Prostate cancer or benign non-cancerous conditions can increase PSA levels. A digital rectal exam usually occurs as part of a routine physical exam. This compares to 67 of Washington State adults over age of 50 years. (D18) In 2004, 96 of Mason County women reported having had a mammogram at some point in their lives.
