1 TOPHC 2018: LEADERSHIP. BEANFIELD CENTRE TORONTO, ON MARCH 21-23, 2018
2 WELCOME THE ONTARIO PUBLIC HEALTH CONVENTION (TOPHC) 2018 Leadership. Partnership. Change. For three days in March, TOPHC 2018 will explore how we can lead through change, respond with innovative opportunities and partnerships, and set the course for a strong and renewed public health sector within a transformed system. TOPHC is your opportunity to connect with health professionals from Ontario and beyond to share knowledge and develop skills related to public health. It is a time of transformation for public health. New policy and legislative changes within the Patients First Act and the new Ontario Public Health Standards, emerging and ongoing health issues, and continuing health inequities drive a demand for innovation, leadership and intersectoral action. Our public health organizations at all levels have an opportunity to shape the health system in new ways; and continue to provide high quality programs and services that strengthen communities and enhance the health of our populations. All sessions are organized thematically into areas of expertise or interest. Chronic Diseases, injury prevention and wellness Effective public health practice Emergency preparedness, response and recovery Healthy environments Healthy growth and development Immunization Infectious and communicable diseases prevention and control Knowledge exchange, evidence informed decision making and evaluation Partnership, collaboration and engagement Priority populations and health equity Sheela Basrur Centre: Leadership and Communications Substance Use and harm reduction This year, we have created a new learning opportunity within the three-day format: day three of the conference will be dedicated to full-day workshops on specific topics, allowing for in-depth reflection, discussion, skills-building and networking.
