Issues remain within vulnerable population, but NPS related activity and recoveries of packaging greatly reduced 2

3 ( ) Third Sector Alcohol & Drugs Action Services Direct Access service data which includes: Needle Exchange, Duty drop-in and Structured Preparatory Work. Overall, there has not been a decrease in numbers of people accessing help through these services with issues with alcohol, heroin, Benzos, Cannabis remaining of significant concern. We also have not included data on people who report using NPS as a secondary drug. However, it seems that there is a clear drop in the numbers of people presenting at Direct Access services with NPS as their main issue of concern when comparing Oct Dec (Q3) and Jan Mar (Q4) and a significant reduction in the number of injecting (NPS) users. 3

4 The Cyrenians ( ) Local Authority Trading Standards ucing Furthermore, figures for Q1 ( ) have continued to show the pronounced downward trend in NPS presentations as main substance used. Number of NPS issues has now greatly reduced over last year to the extent that alcohol appears to have replaced NPS as a bigger issue overall. No continued intelligence as to any further trading pending legislative changes. 5 Social Work (Looked After Children) Services Education (Schools) Communities Team (Seaton Recovery Project) ( (wider substance use) ) uced use in NPS seen however for those individuals with more entrenched difficulties with substance use they continue to access other illicit substances, mainly but not restricted to Cannabis. No prevalence in terms of recorded use of NPS via incidents/referrals across City in last 12 months however anecdotal evidence of use of Cannabis and other substances reported through Guidance network. Although there is knowledge of older client group trying NPS, the preferred substances continue to be opiates. However, younger clients (aged under 30) do experiment with NPS 5

6 ( ) Police Scotland Aberdeen City Division ucing Seeing a significant decrease in issues overall Scottish Prison Service (HMP Grampian) Out of a total of approx 146 prisoners who tested positive to non prescribed substances on admission since the beginning of the year only 8 said they had used some sort of NPS in the previous seven days. Infrequently prisoners are under the influence of NPS or have psychotic episodes possibly due to the effects of NPS but the numbers are fairly low. Student Accommodation Forum Accommodation providers report Ambulance call-outs predominantly due to NPS (this is from national 6
