1 FOLLOW-UP CARE FOR CHILDREN PRESCRIBED ADHD MEDICATION (ADD) APPLICATIONS OBJECTIVE Purpose of Measure: ELIGIBLE POPULATION Which members are included? STANDARD OF CARE NCQA ACCEPTED CODES DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS What documentation should be HEDIS (Administrative) NCQA Accreditation To ensure child members who are newly prescribed attentiondeficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) medication have at least three follow up care visits on different dates of service within a 10- month period, one of which was within 30 days of when the first ADHD medication was dispensed. Members age six years as of March 1st of the year prior to the measurement year to twelve years old as of February 28th of the measurement year *Exclude members with a diagnosis of narcolepsy or in Hospice care, exclude members who had an inpatient encounter for mental health or chemical dependency after new prescription for ADHD. Child members who receive new prescriptions for ADHD need regular follow-up, including one visit within 30 days of the initial prescription and at least two visits in the next nine months for those who remain on the medication. Each visit should address the components outlined below in Documentation Requirements. Please see code table. Each visit should include physical exam findings, discussion of current ADHD symptoms, improvement or regression from previous visit, medication tolerance, side effects, etc.
