1 2018 SPRING CONVENTION April 20, 2018 The Henry Center Michigan State University Lansing Psychology s Response to the Opioid Epidemic and Chronic Pain in Michigan MICHIGAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION
2 Join Us This Spring To Learn About Topics Important To Every Psychologist! Welcome to the 2018 Spring Convention of the Michigan Psychological Association! This year we have the opportunity to learn about a topic that is truly cutting-edge Pain and Opioid Addiction. There is so much that psychology can contribute not just to improving pain management and opioid abuse, but also the delivery systems that contribute to the current opiate crisis. These excellent presenters will help us improve our skills and awareness and learn how we can intervene with patients and families more effectively. The Spring Convention is also an excellent opportunity to reconnect with friends and network with colleagues from across Michigan. We will hold our annual business meeting during the luncheon, giving members an opportunity to participate in their organization. There will be time to find out about the activities of MPA by speaking with Committee Chairs and committee members. We will also honor recipients of the Distinguished Psychologist Award, the Beth Clark Award, and the President s Award, and to welcome new MPA Fellows. We also will host a student poster session. Please walk around ask the students about their posters and their plans for the future in psychology. It would mean a lot to them. If you are not yet a member of MPA, I invite you to talk with any member of the Board of Directors or committee members about how to join. If you are a member, I invite you to become more involved. We have many active committees that would welcome you. Thank you for being here today, and for your support of psychology and MPA. Jared L. Skillings, PhD, ABPP President, Michigan Psychological Association
