2 Introduction - Ahmed D.A.R.E. to me was a great learning experience for all ages young and old. D.A.R.E. is so great because people that teach it have been there and seen it happen. This isn t the same with someone who just knows the facts. I feel that it will help me with avoiding drugs and violence because I learned how drugs and alcohol can affect your health and mental state. I always had an idea of how to avoid drugs and alcohol but D.A.R.E. gave me a wider and more factual variety of ideas. I think it is important to stay away from drugs and violence because both of those could end your life. Not just dying, but it could stop you from living a normal life. Drugs will restrain you from practically every aspect of life. It will stop you from exercising and it will stop you from communicating in an appropriate manner. To me, drugs are really foolish to even have a quick thought of doing them because one try could ruin your life.

3 Introduction - Hailey In D.A.R.E I have learned about a lot of things. I have learned about tobacco, alcohol, being confident, peer pressure and bullying. When I was in D.A.R.E class, I was so happy because I was learning about bad things that can happen to you, and now I know not to do them when I get older. When I m at parties with alcohol and tobacco, I ll remember Officer Tim and what he has taught me. I ll be confident and say the right words.

4 Introduction - Michaela The D.A.R.E. program is an eye opening, life changing experience. D.A.R.E. has taught me to be confident and to not cave into peer pressure. It has also taught me how to deal with stress, or even how to make safe and responsible choices. Being drug free and avoiding violence is so important because drugs and violence make you a different person, not the kind of person I ever want to be!!

5 Tobacco - John In the United States, it is illegal to sell tobacco products to anybody under the age of 18 (19 in some states). Did you know that more than 400,000 people die each year of tobacco related causes? Almost 50,000 deaths per year are from second hand smoking. That is why you should not smoke. It is a life or death situation. Make the right decision not to smoke.

6 Tobacco - Aidan Tobacco is horrible for your body, your health, and the people around you. Here are some reasons that you shouldn t use tobacco. The use of tobacco kills and hurts more Americans than HIV, drug and alcohol abuse, suicides, murders and car accidents combined. Tobacco farming is another cause of deforestation which destroys more than 500,000 acres of forest a year. If the farmers that grow tobacco planted food instead of tobacco, it would give food to seventy percent of the globe s hungry people.

7 Alcohol - Liam Alcohol is a substance in adult beverages like wine and beer. It is very bad for teenagers and kids to have alcohol because it will slow down their growing or even stop their growing. It still is bad for adults to drink alcohol even though they are done growing.

8 Alcohol - Zachary Alcohol is a liquid that can take control of your body in bad ways. Alcohol is illegal to sell to anyone under the age of 21. Alcohol slows down the brain and body. Effects may include loss of coordination, poor judgement, loss of selfcontrol, and slow reflexes. Alcohol weakens the heart muscle and reduces the amount of blood pumped to and from the heart. Too much alcohol can slow down the body and lead to a coma and death. Alcohol goes directly into the bloodstream and can damage every organ of your body. Most teens do not drink alcohol. Teen bodies are still growing; therefore, alcohol damages them more severely than adults.

9 Being Confident- Jill Being confident is when you are acting in a way that states your opinion while respecting others. For example, when giving a public speech, one would need to be confident. You have to be confident in order to do well. It s ok to be nervous but try to stay calm.

10 Being Confident-Hannah Being confident is a very important way to act. Sometimes when you are getting bullied or forgot to do an assignment, your confidence wavers. A way to be confident is to think about all the positive options and not the negative options.

11 Making Safe, Responsible Choices - Grace Making safe and responsible choices is important. If you do not make safe and responsible choices something bad could happen and it could ruin your career if you're young or old. An example of this is when you are at a party and there are drugs and alcohol there. You have to make a choice to stay or leave the party. If a friend or stranger offers you drugs or alcohol, or even a cigarette, you have to make a safe and responsible choice for yourself. So make a good one!

12 Making Safe, Responsible Choices - Nick Making safe, responsible choices is very important when it comes to drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. If you don t make safe, responsible choices, your life could be on the line and even your family s lives could be in danger because of your actions. Taking risks with drugs can, and most of the time will, end very poorly. There will always be consequences to your actions. They can be positive or negative. When you don t make responsible and safe choices the consequences will, nine times out of ten, be negative. An example of this, is if you get asked to take drugs by a friend or walk away and tell an adult. This gives you positive and negative consequences. One positive consequence would be not getting in trouble and one negative consequence would be getting caught and risking going to jail.

13 Friends and Peer Pressure - Nina Peer pressure is when people about your age try to get you to do something. Peer pressure can make you feel sweaty, angry, and nervous. To me, peer pressure is almost like bullying someone. It is sometimes hard to say no to our friends because we don t want to let them down or hurt their feelings.

14 Friends and Peer Pressure- Sean It is a known fact that 99% of the time you will be offered drugs the first time by someone you know. At school, your friends may offer you drugs and try to or get you to try them by pressuring you. This is called peer pressure. Your friends also may pressure you into covering for them by saying they are at your house. They may be at another friend s house whom your friend s parents do not approve of. Another example is of peer pressure is a friend asking you to take drugs. DO NOT let people control you like this. Say no and walk away before they can pressure you anymore so you don t get thrown under the bus for assisting them or doing something illegal.

15 How to Handle Stress:Colin Stress is a bad feeling that happens when it s time for report cards to come in the mail or if you get laughed at by the entire school. Here are some signs of stress: sweaty palms, shaky body, shortness of breath, and a hot forehead. Here is how to deal with stress: self talk, belly breathing, counting in your head, and thinking positively. You should do your best to avoid stress because it could lead you to think drugs will help. Remember - do not stress!

16 How to Handle Stress - Tommy Stress is a thing that usually comes before a big test. There are a few signs of stress, like if someone s frustrated, scared, or feeling nervous. There are also other signs that show feelings of stress, like being dizzy or having sweaty palms. Here are some ways of relieving stress, like counting to ten or making a joke out of the problem.

17 Bullying- Jack Dukehart Bullying is an aggressive or unwanted behavior that is used again and again to isolate or harm someone. Some ways of bullying are physical, verbal, and gossip. There is also cyberbullying, which is bullying people with mean texts or s.

18 Bullying- William Bullying is very bad. Kids that get bullied are sometimes different from the bully. Bullies are normally bullying you to make them feel better about themselves. There are safe ways to report bullying, like giving a note to a teacher or administrator. We can stop bullying if we push against it.

19 Conclusion- Caroline D.A.R.E has taught me a lot about the dangers of tobacco and alcohol. I want to be confident and make safe and responsible choice. Also, I ve learned about friends and peer pressure, how to handle stress, and bullying. The D.A.R.E. program is about not letting kids get into tobacco, alcohol, and cigarettes. In the future, I will remember all things I have learned from the D.A.R.E. program.

20 Conclusion - Gracie I learned a lot in D.A.R.E. The main things it taught me are don t bully, don t smoke, don t do drugs, or drink alcohol. I also learned it is important to make responsible choices. While learning, I also thought D.A.R.E. was also really fun.

21 Personal Commitment Statements I, Ahmed, vow to never, ever do drugs or drink under age or smoke cigarettes! I will not bully anyone, always remain confident, avoid peer pressure, make responsible choices, and I will always try my best to handle stress. I will keep everything from D.A.R.E in my mind. I, William, pledge to never take drugs, never drink alcohol, and never smoke. I will use all the things I have learned in D.A.R.E. class to make a better world. When I do, I will try to teach others what I have learned. I, Jack, promise to never do drugs, never be a bully, and always be confident in myself. I, Zachary, promise to never do drugs, smoke cigarettes, or drink alcohol underage. I, Gracie, promise to never bully, smoke, do drugs, or drink alcohol in my life. I, GRACE, promise to never take drugs, drink alcohol, or smoke a cigarette ever in my life. I, Michaela, promised to never go near any drugs.

22 Personal Commitment Statements I, John, promise to make safe, responsible choices. I, Aidan, promise to never do drugs, smoke, or drink underage. I, Jill, promise to never do drugs, and never let people control me. I, Nina, promise never to smoke or do drugs. I, Nick, promise to never bully and help anyone who is in need. I, Sean, promise to never do anything that will harm my body in any way, to be confident, and to stand up to bullies when others won t. I also promise to help others in making the same choices. I say no. Do you? I, Caroline, promise not to use tobacco, alcohol, or any substance that could harm my body. I, Hannah, promise to never ever do any drugs and remember everything from D.A.R.E. I, Liam, promise never to do drugs, drink alcohol, or smoke cigarettes. I, Tommy, promise to do my best to not take drugs or drink alcohol ever in my life. I, Colin, vow to never do drugs, smoke, or drink alcohol in my entire life. I, Hailey, promise never to take drugs or tobacco.
