What is the Glycemic Index? Not all carbohydrate foods are created equal, in fact they behave quite differently in our bodies. The glycemic index or GI describes this difference by ranking carbohydrates according to their effect on our blood glucose levels. Choosing low GI carbs the ones that produce only small fluctuations in our blood glucose and insulin levels is the secret to long-term health reducing your risk of heart disease and diabetes and is the key to sustainable weight loss. What are the Benefits of the Glycemic Index? Eating a lot of high GI foods can be detrimental to your health because it pushes your body to extremes. This is especially true if you are overweight and sedentary. Switching to eating mainly low GI carbs that slowly trickle glucose into your blood stream keeps your energy levels balanced and means you will feel fuller for longer between meals. Low GI diets: help people lose and manage weight. Increase the body s sensitivity to insulin Low GI Carbs Improve diabetes management Reduce the risk of heart disease Improve blood cholesterol levels Can help you manage the symptoms of PCOS Reduce hunger and keep you fuller for longer Prolong physical endurance High GI carbs helps re-fuel carbohydrate stores after exercise.

How to Switch to a Low GI Diet Glycemic Load The basic technique for eating the low GI way is simply a this for that approach I, swapping high GI carbs for low GI carbs. You don t need to count numbers or do any sort of mental arithmetic to make sure you are eating a healthy, low GI diet. dough. Use breakfast cereals based on oats, barley and brain. Use breads with wholegrains, stone-ground flour, sour Reduce the amount of potatoes you eat. Enjoy all other types of fruit and vegetables Use Basmati or Doongara rice Enjoy pasta, noodles, quinoa Eat plenty of salad vegetables with vinaigrette dressing. HOW TO FIGURE GLYCEMIC INDEX Multiply the carbohydrate's percentage contribution (0.52%) by the glycemic index of that particular type of carbohydrate. For the blueberry muffin, this would mean multiplying 0.52 by 59. The final calculation is then a glycemic index of approximately 30.7mg for the blueberry muffin. The glycemic load (GL) is a ranking system for carbohydrate content in food portions based on their glycemic index and the portion size. Glycemic load or GL combines both the quality and quantity of carbohydrates in one number. It s the best way to predict blood glucose values of different types and amounts of food. The formula is GL = (GI x the amount of available carbohydrates) divided by 100. The usefulness of glycemic load is based on the idea that a high glycemic index food consumed in small quantities would give the same effect as larger quantities of low glycemic index food on blood sugar. Glycemic Load is the product of the glycemic Index and the grams of available carbohydrate (GL = GI x available Carb grams) Complete this same calculation for all of the different carbohydrates included in the meal, and then add the results to yield the total glycemic index of the meal, if desired.

Body Mass Index What Is BMI? Over 100 million adult Americans are overweight or obese. Being overweight or obese increases a person's chances for developing serious health problems, especially heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and cancer. How does someone know if they are overweight or obese? Research on obesity has shown that a measurement called body mass index (or BMI for short) can be used to assess a person's level of body fat. BMI does not measure body fat directly, but it does correspond fairly closely to direct measures of body fat in most people. Therefore, it can be considered an alternative for direct measures of body fat. The number is determined using a person's height and weight. Because the calculation requires only height and weight, it is an inexpensive and easy-to-use method of screening for weight categories that may lead to health problems. High BMI & Medical Conditions, Ideal BMI Body mass index (or BMI) is a tool that can be used to indirectly measure the level of body fatness in an individual. Because the calculation requires only two pieces of information, height and weight, it is an inexpensive and easy screening method for weight categories that may lead to health problems. If someone is determined to be overweight or obese, they are at increased risk for certain medical conditions, including: High blood pressure, heart disease,, High cholesterol, stroke, Sleep apnea, Osteoarthritis, Certain cancers, Gallbladder disease Calculating BMI Recent research on obesity has shown that a relatively accurate measure of body fatness can be made using a calculation known as body mass index, or BMI for short. BMI does not measure body fat directly but correlates closely to direct measures of body fat in most people.

BMI Ht Body Weight (pounds) BMI Chart NORMAL OVERWEIGHT OBESE The BMI formula calls for dividing a person's weight in kilograms by his or her height in meters, squared (BMI=kg/m 2 ). To make it easier to calculate a person's BMI, many possible variations of height and weight have been entered into a BMI chart. This same BMI chart can be used by anyone, regardless of gender, race, or ethnicity. BMI and Weight Research on obesity has shown that one way to measure a person's weight status is to use a calculation known as body mass index or BMI for short. If someone has a high BMI, does that mean that they are definitely overweight or obese? Keep in mind that BMI is a screening tool; it is not used to diagnose any medical conditions but instead, is used as one measure to assess a person's weight and their risk for developing certain medical conditions.

Vitamin B 12 Phentermine Vitamin B 12 is known as the energy vitamin because it gives a real energy boost. It is used to remedy fatigue and it speeds up the metabolism. Red blood cells are also responsible for producing hemoglobin, the part of the blood that takes oxygen from the lungs and transports it to all the different parts of the body. What is the link between Vitamin B 12 and weight loss? Our B 12 shots are administered directly into the muscle, allowing better absorption. Vitamin B 12 causes the metabolism to speed up, which in turn increases weight loss. Vitamin B 12 shots give a tremendous boost energy. This generally helps people to maintain their diet, and motivates them to exercise and increase physical activity. Vitamin B12 also helps to fight stress and depression, symptoms which are sometimes associated with weight gain. Phentermine is used for a limited period of time to speed weight loss in overweight people who are exercising and eating a low-calorie diet.. Phentermine is in a class of medications called anorectics. It works by decreasing appetite. Phentermine may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: *Dry Mouth *Unpleasant Taste *Diarrhea *Constipation *Vomiting Phendimetrazine Phendimetrazine is an appetite suppressant used along with an overall diet plan for the short-term management of obesity. Phendimetrazine works by stimulating the central nervous system which causes an increase in heart rate and blood pressure and a decrease in appetite.
