DETOXIFICATION SUPPORT with Jodi Cohen, NTP, Founder Key Points SUPPORT the detoxification organs BEFORE starting a detoxification program. This includes digestive healing efforts Detoxification is a PARASYMPATHETIC EVENT Detoxification is a physical, spiritual and emotional experience. Greatest DETOXIFICATION OCCURS DURING SLEEP, so the deeper sleep, more powerful the detoxification process. 1

What is Detoxification? A continuous internal process of resting, repairing and healing the body from the INSIDE OUT. Assists the body in clearing congestions, illnesses, and disease potential. Supports the needs of the individual cells, freeing the vital cellular and organ activities to function productively and efficiently. Toxic Overload Impedes Detoxification A toxin is any substance that creates irritating and/or harmful effects in the body. Any substance in excess can create toxins in the body. Toxins come from : External sources: Air pollution, Drugs, Food Additives, Preservatives, Prescription Drugs, Chemicals, Heavy Metals, Allergens, EMFs Cell Phones, Wifi, Computers Internal sources: Cellular wastes, Infections, Flora Imbalance, Dysbiosis, Poorly Digested Foods 2

Symptoms of Toxicity Toxicity limits ability of cells to function. Ability to detoxify determines resistance to disease. Symptoms can present as: Lack of energy Restlessness Nausea Aches and Pains Muscle stiffness Skin irritation Memory loss Mental Fog Anxiety Nervousness Mild Depression Vision Problems Successful Detox Formula Diet Digestion Parasympathetic State Sleep Support Detoxification Organs Lymph System Liver Gall Bladder Skin, Lungs, Kidneys, Heart 3

Diet Processed, lifeless food seen as a toxin. Too much food (volume) uses too much energy, and doesn t leave enough for house cleaning. When you overeat, the food isn t properly digested. Ingestion of the proper nutrients help body to detoxify. Fiber or clay to help sponge up toxins once mobilized Digestion If a person isn t digesting, even the most perfect diet can clog the body s detoxification pathways. Poor fat digestion clogs the lymph and liver. The body also needs certain nutrients to support the detoxification pathways in the liver and good bacteria in intestines to assist in the detoxification of many substances. Should eliminate toxins - fungus, parasites and bacteria - from the body. 4

BRAIN Vagal Nerves Triggers the Parasympathetic Responses and Activates: Saliva in Mouth HCL in Stomach Pancreatic Enzymes Liver/Gall Bladder Bile for fat digestion Small Intestine Absorbs nutrients through Intestinal Lining Lymph System transports nutrients Large Intestine Peristalsis ENERGY, WELLNESS, LIFE Digestive Cascade Parasympathetic Activates the parasympathetic response which stimulates stomach, Pancreas Gall Bladder and Saliva production, lower esophageal function which is critical in acid reflux conditions. Also effects pyloric valve function. Pancreatone Liver Vitality Lymph Flow Improves Lymph circulation which delivers dietary fats to where they are needed in the body. Apply over Lymph nodes. Brings vitality and optimal function to the liver. Apply over Liver. Tonify the Pancreas for overall vitality and function. Apply over Pancreas. Gall Bladder Flow Decrease viscosity of bile so that it can be used in the small intestine for fat digestion. Apply over Gall Bladder. Adrenal Balance Restore resiliency and keep you balanced in the midst of stress. Apply on low back above kidneys. Intestinal Mucosal Repair For all Leaky Gut and Dysbiotic Conditions. Apply in a clockwise circle around belly button. Detoxification is a Parasympathetic Event Vagal Nerve Toxicity is sympathetic. Detoxification is a parasympathetic event. You need to rest and digest to detoxify. You can t heal under stress. 5

Parasympathetic Oil Stimulates Vagal Nerve to Transmit Parasympathetic Impulse to all Digestive Organs. Use before and after meals. Especially helpful when eating in stress states. Apply to vagal nerve (behind earlobe on mastoid bone) Detoxification Process PHASE 1: Toxins are mobilized into Blood and Lymphatic Systems and transported to Liver to be neutralized then eliminated from the body via: Gallbladder - Bile moves toxins to feces for excrement Kidneys and Skin Toxins are excreted through sweat or urine Liver - Converts toxins to intermediate compound that may be more toxic than original toxin. PHASE 2: Additional chemical reactions in Liver neutralize toxins and make them water-soluble so it can be eliminated via sweat or urine 6

Lymphatic System Lymph, interstitial fluid, flows through the lymph nodes where toxins are filtered out. Lymph system acts as a pre-filter for the liver to prevent clogging and liver overload. No lymphatic pumps. After the lymph is filtered, it returns to the bloodstream Important to support Lymph drainage as well. Lymph Flow Oil Lymph flow is for increasing the circulation of the Lymphatic system. Increases transports of fats and White Blood Cells. Consider combining it with a homeopathic lymphatic drainage formula 7

Liver and Gall Bladder Liver filters toxins from blood and neutralizes the toxins in preparation for elimination. Toxins leave the Liver through Bile, a very alkaline liquid made in Liver and stored and concentrated in the Gallbladder. Important that toxins flow out of the body and are not reabsorbed. Why Bile Needs to Flow for Detox Move Toxins out of the body Emulsifies Fats Prevents Constipation 8

Why Bile Doesn t Flow? Stress Too much fat, too little fat or bad fats Estrogen Dehydration Cholesterol deficient Adrenal fatigue Emotions Stored in the Liver Chemical sensitivities often have huge emotional components. You are detoxifing on a physical, spiritual and emotional level. The more toxic = the more stored emotion. Liver Detoxes help uncover and express feelings, especially hidden frustrations, anger, resentments, or fear. 9

Liver/Gall Bladder Essential Oils Liver Vitality Helps support optimal health and vitality of the liver. Ideal for liver stress symptoms like sensitivity to smells (smoke, perfume) and or chemicals or those who are easily intoxicated or hung over. Liver Support Supports the release of emotions, including frequent irritation, impatience, resentment or frustration, being critical of yourself or others, control issues, an inability to express your feelings, feelings of not feeling heard, not feeling loved, not being recognized or appreciated. Gall Bladder Flow Supports the flow of bile and with it toxins out of the body. Some indicators include motion sickness, floating stools, avoiding fatty food like meat or if you do eating fatty food, needing to use the restroom shortly after, pain between shoulder blades, subtle headache above eyes. Skin, Lungs, Kidneys Heart Skin - Sweat glands of the skin act are one of the body s avenues for elimination. The surface area of the skin covers 11,000 sq. feet, making sweating therapy effective to remove toxins. Lungs - Eliminate a variety of waste products, particularly carbon dioxide. Respiratory rate is a major mechanism of ph control. Kidneys - Filter the blood to remove cellular wastes. If kidneys overburdened, it will burden other systems. Heart - Blood shuttles toxins to the Liver. 10

Sleep Sleep is when the body detoxifies and heals. If you are not sleeping, you will not detoxify. Disrupted sleep can be attributed to a variety of causes Great blends to support it include our Vibrant Blue Oils Sleep blend and Pineal Rhythm. Detox Kit 11

Additional Oils to Support Detox Lymph Flow Helps increase circulation of the Lymphatic system to move toxins out of cells Liver Support Supports emotional release Breathe Supports optimal breathing Sleep Helps relax and support sleep Pineal Rhythm Supports optimal circadian rhythms Adrenal Balance Supports balanced response to daily stressors Summary of Key Points SUPPORT the detoxification organs BEFORE starting a detoxification program. 12
