3 Introduction You are one of the growing number of individuals taking ownership for your health and reclaiming your physiological wellness through the use of natural remedies. Natural remedies are remedies that are found in nature and do not require the use of synthetic processes to create. These remedies were once the primary methods for treating ailments; however with the advancement of chemical science and technology, medical research now develops fast-acting synthetic compounds to treat symptoms caused by underlying health problems. In today s health culture, synthetic treatments (pharmaceuticals) are readily prescribed to individuals to treat their symptoms and ease their discomfort. Natural remedies, on the other hand, strive to address the cause of a specific ailment through the use of natural processes. In many cases minor alterations in a person s lifestyle is the number one natural solution to eliminate the cause of one s ailment. In other situations use of natural substances can be an effective means to bring the body back to a state of balance. Few will only find relief in the medical world. 5 The High Blood Pressure Remedies! Natural Remedies Apple Cider Vinegar (organic) - Mix 1 Tablespoon of ACV in 8oz of water. - Drink 2 to 3 times a day slowly. Alternative Option Best for individuals with an unbalanced ph - Mix 1 Tablespoon of ACV + ¼ teaspoon baking soda in 8oz of water. - Drink 2 to 3 times a day slowly. Potassium - Eat fruits and vegetables with at least 350mg per serving at each meal. - The recommended daily potassium is 4,700 mg. - See the Resource guide for foods high in Potassium. Magnesium mg twice, daily to 500 mg magnesium taken in the morning and evening. - See the Resource guide for foods high in Magnesium. Omega-3 - Eat fish 2-3 times a week. OR - 1 tablespoon of flaxseed oil daily. - 1 to 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed (add to cereal, yogurt, smoothie, or Natural Remedies That Work for High Blood Pressure 5
6 flax bread) daily. Calcium - 1,250mg is recommended daily. - See the Resource guide for foods high in Calcium. Garlic - Take one clove of raw garlic each morning. CoQ10-100mg per day. Vitamin C - 500mg per day of Vitamin C (L ascorbate acid, not L ascrobic acid). Cayenne Pepper - 1 teaspoon per day. - Add to your morning tea, soups or other foods. It can even be added to your ACV drink for an extra kick. Natural Remedies That Work for High Blood Pressure 6
7 Lifestyle Remedies Cut The Fat - Exchange typical fats for healthier fats such as avocados, nuts, olive oil, coconut oil, etc. - Eat lean cuts of meat. - The purpose is to lose the extra weight and keep excess fats out of your blood. Salt Myth - Exchange your ionized salts for organic or sea salts in your recipes. - Cut out pre-packaged meals. These are very high in sodium content. - Aim for less 1,500mg (about ½ teaspoon) of ionized salt per day. Fiber - Switch to a high fiber diet. (Refer to the Quick Start Guide to Lowering Blood Pressure in 30 Days or Less for the High Fiber Diet) - If necessary, take fiber pills in addition to a high fiber diet. Exercise - Do minutes per day of moderate exercise. - Goal is to drop the extra pounds and get back to a healthier weight. Get Enough Rest - Set a sleep schedule and stick to it even on the weekends. - Plan for 7-9 hours of sleep per night. Natural Remedies That Work for High Blood Pressure 7
8 Quit Smoking and Cut Back on the Alcohol - Both raise blood pressure levels. So do not smoke or drink... enough said. Cut Out the Stress - Stress can cause blood pressure levels to rise and, overtime, lead to the cause of high blood pressure. - Eating healthy, getting enough sleep and exercise are great stress relievers, but you can also try some of the following: - Yoga, Tai chi, meditation, deep breathing techniques, etc. - You can read more about stress reducing techniques in the Resource Guide.
