3 Scientific Rationale It s a new approach to the bio-stimulant treatment with lifting effect to the face, neck and body. It s based upon the inserction of suture threads made of PDO (Polydioxanone) a powerful synthetic fiber, consisting of a monofilament which is hydrolyzed after a some time in the tissue. Clinical observation showed that polydioxanone stimulates the production of new collagen - the protein responsible for the firmness and elasticity of the skin - increasing the synthesis of endogenous hyaluronic acid and imporving the local mircocirculation. It is for this reasons that the tissue where the PDO is inserted becomes firmer, more elastic and better hydrated. Methodology The Miracu methodic is based on the use of natural tension lines of the skin, causing an effect similar to the surgical facelift. The Miracu threads limit the strength of the facial muscles, simulating the effect of botulinum toxin, but with the great advantage of a more natural look because it does not paralyze muscles. 5 3

4 Effects With the use of the Miracu threads is achieved an immediate improvement of the appearence of the skin. Between one to two weeks later begins the synthesis of the natural proteins of the body (collagen and elastin). This process continues until the threads are reabsorbed - which occurs by hydrolysis - taking approximately 6 to 8 months. The aesthetic effects, however, last 12 to 18 months, due to the meaningful endogenous stimulation generated.the speed of reabsorption of the PDO thread, along with its small diameter, prevents risks of skin thickening and scarring, which can, instead, happen with other biocompatible materials.the effects of the treatment are: rejuvenation, lifting effect, brightness, support and toning the tissues, increase in volume, improvement of wrinkles and furrows. Safety PDO (polydioxanone) it s long used material for suture threads in cardiac surgery, general surgery and vascular surgery. It s a completely safe medical device, completely reabsorbable and hypoallergenic.
