12 Horizon Prizes Horizon Prizes are 'challenge' prizes offering a cash reward to whoever can most effectively meet a defined challenge The aim is to stimulate innovation and come up with solutions to problems that matter to European citizens A technological or societal challenge is defined without defining the path how to reach it The contestants are free to come up with the most promising and effective solution within a given deadline The prize is awarded for the best delivered breakthrough solution in a competitive contest
