Ozone is generated by some electrical equipment including telephones and computers. The foam may be washed effectively using any mild soap and rinsed afterwards. Do not immerse the model in water or allow water to run freely over the surface Do not ingest the product and practice normal hygiene after handling the product.

4 Priming the Synovial Sac Troubleshooting NOTE: Before using the model for the first time you will need to prime the Synovial Sac with Aspirant. Take the syringe out of the Filling Kit and ensure that the plunger is fully depressed. Then attach the syringe to the fluid feed connector on the end of the Knee. Disconnect the Filling Kit (a oneway valve stops the Sac filling with air again). Open the Knee Aspirant. NOTE: Quote Knee Aspirant (50ml) Part No: 700 if you need to order more aspirant Insert the tube into the Knee Aspirant and Draw up 0ml of fluid. Remove the tube and wipe it clean. Should the connector fail to attach to the Fluid Bag the connector mechanism may need resetting. Connector in the locked position, preventing items from being attached to it. Unlock the connector by depressing the metal clip. The connector is reset and ready to use when the pin pops out. Pull back the plunger until you meet resistance. At this point all of the air has been removed from the Synovial Sac. 0

6 Assembling the Knee We recommend wearing gloves when using this product, especially when handling the skin. See Care of Products. Place the Knee (with primed Synovial Sac) onto the work surface. Screw the two parts of the Fluid Bag Stand together. Insert the straight end of the Stand into the holes in the Knee base. Hook the Fluid Bag onto the top of the Stand. Attach the white connector on the end of the Fluid Bag onto the end of the Knee. Empty one bottle of Knee Aspirant into the Fluid Bag. Note: To make aspiration easier the contents of the second bottle can emptied into the Bag. This puts the synovial sac under more pressure, making it bulge more, allowing for easier needle placement. Fit the new Sac over the condyles. Drape the rest of the Sac back over the femur. Push the fluid feed tube into the groove on the femur. Butt the condyles of the two Knee parts together and straighten the Knee. Place the collateral ligaments in position within the grooves on either side of the Knee. Reattach the patellar ligament. The Knee is ready to use. 8

Attach the Filling Kit to the end of the Sac and withdraw all of the Aspirant. Disconnect the syringe from the end of the Sac. Pull the clear tube with connector off the Sac. Throw away the old Sac. Attach the clear tube with connector to the end of the new Sac. We recommend wearing gloves when using this product, especially when handling the skin. See Care of Products. Disconnect the white fluid feed connector. Loosen the black knobs at either end of the knee. Remove the Knee from the base. Turn the Knee over and unzip the Skin. Remove the Fluid Bag and Stand from the base. 7 4

8 Changing the Synovial Sac 4 Note Open the back of the muscle layer and remove the inner anatomy from it. Reverse the procedure to rebuild the Knee. When refitting the Knee back into the base, hold the fluid feed tube clear of the base and the black securing knob. If the fluid feed tube gets trapped synovial fluid will not flow properly from the Bag into the knee. Ensure the knobs at each end of the Knee are adequately tightened as it may be accidentally pulled out of the base when it is flexed during normal use. We recommend wearing gloves when using this product, especially when handling the skin. See Care of Products. Follow the sequence described in Removing/attaching the Knee Skin and muscle layer. A retaining strap runs around the femur. This holds the patella and fat pad in position. Pull both ends of the strap off the retaining lug. Draw the patellar ligament forward and allow it rest on the tibia. Bend the knee backwards (normal anatomical flexure) to free the Synovial Sac from the knee joint. Pull the Sac away from the bone. 5 6
