2 INTRODUCTION Team leaders and key decision makers are becoming increasingly aware of the impact that happy, healthy employees can have on their productivity. WHAT IS MINDFULNESS? More than an trendy buzzword, Mindfulness is the practice of cultivating greater awareness of the integration of mind, body and spirit and the effect this can have on unconscious thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Mindfulness is a lifelong engagement--not to get somewhere else, but to be where and as we actually are in this very moment, whether the experience is pleasant, unpleasant, or neutral. 2 of 7
3 Mindfulness is moment to moment awareness. It is being fully awake. It involves being here for the moments of our lives, without judgement. 4 HOW IT WORKS The Qi Garden offers comprehensive training to promote and integrate stress-management and wellbeing skills in the workplace and wellness for employees. More than an education based programme where participants are just introduced to abstract ideas and theories, The Qi Garden s CMP workshops enable participants to combine didactic knowledge with experiential learning. All of The Qi Garden's participants experience the benefits of awareness and stress-reduction directly. Your Chopra Center Certified Instructor, Samantha Turner-Girard specialises in ancient healing techniques and as such many of her workshops and teaching combine modern research with the wisdom traditions of Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Samantha will come to your location of choice - either your business establishment or other chosen location Delivery of your CMP: * Half-Day Workshop - 4 hours (including 2 x 15 min breaks) * Full Day Retreat - 8 hours (including 1 hour break, and 2 x 15min breaks) * 4 to 10 week 1-2 hour workshops at your work site. * Executive retreats at locations near your business or destination retreats. 4 of 7
5 * Custom-designed programmes tailored to your company s unique needs. Any part of the syllabus can be taught as a stand alone 90 minute workshop. Core topics covered include: Introduction to Meditation - The Antidote to Stress Meditation has been shown to positively effect a range of autonomic physiological processes, such as lowering blood pressure and reducing overall arousal and emotional negativity. This workshop is an interactive discussion on the effects of stress on the body, mind and emotions and the mechanics of stress release. How meditation can counteract the effects of stress and how to begin your lifelong practice of meditation. This session includes a 20 minute meditation session. Chair Yoga All participants are introduced to the Philosophy of Yoga as a method of developing and maintaining flexibility and grace both on and off the Yoga mat. Chair yoga is a simple and effective way of incorporating movement and breath into your day and can be practiced anywhere, and does not require any fancy equipment. This style of yoga can be practiced by both novices and seasoned yoga practitioners. Breath Awareness Techniques A workshop on the importance of Vital Breath (pranayama) and the intimate relationship between breath and mind. Various breathing techniques are taught that are designed to 5 of 7
6 cleanse, invigorate and balance the body; also as a powerful technology to enhance neurorespiratory integration. Understanding Doshas in the workplace - Relating to different personality types Doshas are the underlying organising principles of movement, metabolism and structure in human beings and all living things and underlie every aspect of Ayurvedic theory and practice, thus allowing us to understand and relate to various personality traits and characteristics. This workshop will also explore the various dosha types of all the participants and discuss lifestyle factors that may impact their overall wellbeing. Ayurveda - The Science of Life Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word with its origins in India, loosely translated it means Science of Life. This is a wonderful introductory lecture on how to easily incorporate some of the Ayurvedic principles into our daily lives by enhancing ojas (subtle nourishment) and minimising ama (toxic residue). Particularly self-care and maintaining a work-life balance to enhance productivity in both of these areas.
