I also serve in the roles of substitute clinical supervisor and needling observer.
Doctor of Oriental Medicine / Licensed Acupuncturist Albuquerque, New Mexico, / Portland, Oregon, 2012 Current Albuquerque - Owner and physician at Spirit River Healing Arts, my own Traditional Chinese Medicine practice in Albuquerque, NM. Portland - Since arriving in Portland in 2012, I have continued my work as an acupuncturist and currently make house calls. My practice is called, At Home Acupuncture, LLC. I treat patients using acupuncture, adjunctive techniques such as cupping and moxabustion, utilize advanced bodywork techniques, prescribe herbal formulas, and instruct on meditation, breathing and diet. As the owner, I also handle marketing, bookkeeping, and inventory. Licensed Acupuncturist, Manager Working Class Acupuncture (WCA) Portland, Oregon, Feb 2013 May 2015 Managed WCA's Hillsdale clinic and also treated patients in this community-style acupuncture clinic. As an acupuncturist, I saw patients each 4-hour shift. As the clinic manager, I handled oversight of ordering, cleaning, building maintenance, new acupuncturist training, and more. I attended regular meetings with the other location managers and helped set business policies. I loved the patients and always shared more, such as bodywork, herbs and other modalities. Licensed Acupuncturist Casita Community Acupuncture Albuquerque, NM, A friend needed help at her wonderful community-style clinic in New Mexico. I helped by seeing patients per shift. Treatments included acupuncture, moxabustion, cupping, Tui Na, suggesting herbal patents, and more.
Herbal Consultant and Research Assistant Golden Flower Chinese Herbs Albuquerque, New Mexico, I acted as a consultant for those calling for help understanding the proper use of herbs. This included medical doctors, veterinarians, doctors of oriental medicine and licensed acupuncturists, and chiropractors. I also performed industry research and organized data for professional advocacy and marketing. Taiji Chuan and Dao Yin Longevity Exercises Instructor Chicago, Illinois / Albuquerque, New Mexico / Portland, Oregon, 1990's - Present Meditation, breathing and longevity exercises, and martial arts I have been studying, practicing and teaching for several decades. My movement and martial arts training includes Yoga, Feldenkrais Movement, Yang style Taiji Chuan, Aikido, Wing Chun and others. I have experience with both Eastern and Western styles of meditation / mindfulness. I currently teach students in the SW Waterfront area of Portland. Professor of Taiji Chuan Pacifc College of Oriental Medicine, Chicago, Illinois, While still a student at the college, I was asked to design and instruct the Yang Style Taiji Chuan curriculum at this college of traditional oriental medicine. I taught classes, discussed Daoist philosophy and how the art and science of Taiji Chuan would beneft students both as a therapy to ofer their patients, as well as a personal practice to improve their skills as a physician. The Balancing Center Chicago, Illinois, sometime around 1990-ish One of my early rare opportunities was to work with Dr. Fedeli at this chiropractic clinic. I ofered Craniosacral Therapy and learned to teach Macrobiotic dietary principles.
Heart in Hand Holistic Healing Center Chicago, Illinois Back in the day, near the beginnings of my massage therapy / bodywork arts practice, I worked in conjunction with a psychotherapist (who mostly utilized Hakomi body-centered psychotherapy) and a group of bodyworkers. My skills and understanding grew, cultivated by learning from and working with amazing healers who performed bodywork (Craniosacral Therapy, Structural Integration and more), and Shamanic work (such as Mary Thunder who combined Native American rituals with 12-step program work). Lutheran General Hospital Massage Therapy Program Park Ridge, Illinois, I developed the Massage Therapy program at the hospital's wellness center, treated a wide variety of hospital and community patients, and also handled marketing. Education Southwest Acupuncture College, Albuquerque, New Mexico Masters of Science Degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine A picture is worth a thousand words. Ancient scientists recognized life as patterns, much like how modern physicists see matter as vibrating modes. Life s patterns are a language which, like any language, expresses meaning. Ancient physicians focused on understanding this universal language and recorded their fndings as healing principles and practices. Yin and Yang are at the core of Asian Medicine, and represent a binary pattern that can uncover the secrets of the Universe. Roosevelt University, Schaumburg, Illinois Honors Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science I love the Analysis and Design of projects, seeing them from a larger view and then adding in the details until its a design I am proud to share with others. One of my current projects is a series of ebooks and online courses related to Traditional Chinese Medicine and Daoist philosophy.
Volunteer Work Doctor of Oriental Medicine Kid Power Therapy Associates, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Summer 2010 Imagine a Kung Fu Panda style training gym for kids run by brilliant and compassionate healers of all kinds. I had the honor of assisting as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, sharing traditional Chinese medicine therapies with the Kid Power staf of Occupational and Physical Therapists, Speech Therapists and others. One of my favorite memories was teaching Taiji Chuan exercises to a young girl with brain damage. She could not make movements which crossed over her body's centerline. After the exercises, she was able to perform these movements and then opened up to communicate with her therapists in a way she had not done before! References Many references available upon request.
