The Flow - 3 Parts PART 1 ENERGY MEDICINE (EM) Foundations and Principles of EM (approx mins)
The Flow - 3 Parts PART 2 ENERGY MEDICINE AND STRESS Triple Warmer & Spleen Learn EM Exercises to Manage Stress (approx. 35 mins)
The Flow PART 3 CLOSURE and Q&A (approx. 10 mins)
The Flow - 3 Parts PART 1 ENERGY MEDICINE Foundations and Principles
Foundations of EM In every culture and in every medical tradition before ours, healing was accomplished by moving energy. Albert Szent-Gyorgyi ( )
Foundations of EM Energy Medicine is the diagnostic and therapeutic use of energy. James Oschman, Ph.D. (2009)
Foundations of EM Energy Medicine is based on the supposition that illness results from disturbances in the body s energies and energy fields and can be addressed via interventions into those energies and energy fields. David Feinstein (2008)
Foundations of EM Energy Medicine is one of the five categories or domains of Complementary and Alternative Therapies identified by The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM).
Basic Principles of EM 1 Energy wants to move The movement of energy keeps the body healthy and supports its functioning.
Basic Principles of EM 2 Energy moves in specific patterns Energy systems have characteristic ways of moving that can be tracked, supported, strengthened and balanced.
Basic Principles of EM 3 Energy crosses in small and large figure 8s At all levels, from the micro level (e.g., double helix of DNA) to the macro level (e.g., left side of brain controlling the right side of the body, and visa versa) energy makes crossover patterns.
Basic Principles of EM 4 Energy needs space to move Energy can become blocked or constrained due to chronic stress, muscular constriction, toxins, or energetic interference.
Basic Principles of EM 5 The health of the body reflects the health of its energy When the body is not healthy it is reflected in the body s energy (flow, balance and harmony).
Basic Principles of EM 6 All the body s energies are inter-connected The energy systems of the body feed and influence each other. Imbalances in one area, can influence imbalances in other areas.
Basic Principles of EM 7 Our energy can be affected by other people and our environment The basic field of your energies both protects you and is affected by your environment (like the atmosphere of the Earth).
Basic Principles of EM 8 Energy adapts to circumstances using consistent principles 1 st Priority = Survival; 2 nd Priority = Move toward healthy functioning of core essential systems, often at the expense of other less critical systems.
Basic Principles of EM 9 Energy can be re-patterened By. Holding, Tracing, Tapping, Pressing, Massaging, Pinching, Twisting, Connecting Acupoints, Shaking, Performing Exercises, Holding Postures, even using Intention.
Basic Energy Systems Meridians Chakras Aura or Auric Field Extraordinary Meridians Celtic Weave/Tibetan Energy Rings Electrics Basic Grid more...
Energy Medicine Benefits For Underserved Populations EM is Cost Effective Time Effective Appropriate for Everyone regardless of Age, Health, or Fitness level A complement to traditional medicine and can be a stand alone self-care system of its own An EFFECTIVE stress management technique
The Flow PART 2 ENERGY MEDICINE AND STRESS Triple Warmer & Spleen Meridians EM Exercises to help Manage Stress
The Players Triple Warmer Meridian and Spleen Meridian
Meridians Meridians are energy pathways in the body. Spleen Meridian Triple Warmer Meridian
Spleen Meridian THE BASICS: Is responsible for metabolizing EVERYTHING that we take in food, environmental chemicals/toxins, cigarette smoke, radiation, and psychological and emotional stressors. Is a YIN meridian and is important for women and feminine energy. Is like the Mom of the body the great harmonizer of the organs and systems. When weak, we cannot adequately metabolize, integrate or throw off noxious input.
Triple Warmer (TW) Meridian THE BASICS: Governs the Flight-Fight-Freeze or Faint response the amygdala part of the brain (the part cued by stress!). Is responsible for keeping us alive and will literally protect us to death. Is intimately involved with the adrenal glands and will conscript energy from all other meridians (except heart) when survival or well being is at stake. Responds to perceived threats they don t have to be real. Shares responsibility for immune system response with spleen meridian and when alarmed conscripts energy from spleen meridian first.
Triple Warmer (TW) ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Regulates body temperature and metabolism Is concerned with primal survival issues Governs the search and destroy activities of the immune system Is the commander-in-chief of the bodies energies during threat Governs, and is governed by, the hypothalamus Is both a meridian and a radiant circuit
Triple Warmer (TW) ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: It has selective memory, focusing on danger and threat above all else It is the keeper of habits both positive and negative It can be a strong ally or a problematic agitator It is often called the Three Heats, Triple Burner or Triple Heater It is implicated in EVERY AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE and CHRONIC ILLNESS
TW Out of Balance PHYSICAL CONDITIONS: Inability to adapt to hot or cold temperatures Problems related to temperature imbalances, including colds, fevers, sweats, night sweats, hot flashes, etc. Cold hands and feet Hyper or Hypothyroidism Adrenal Fatigue/Exhaustion/Failure
TW Out of Balance EMOTIONAL/PSYCHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS: Feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, panic, hysteria, and mood swings Addictions Hyper vigilance and insecurity Sleep difficulties Chronic muscle tension Emotional shock and PTSD Difficulty relaxing or enjoying life
Triple Warmer (TW) THE GOOD NEWS: In balance with spleen, TW regulates the immune system, metabolism and mood. TW can be befriended and evolved to deal with stress in a positive fashion. TW supports you ability to handle the demands of life TW can save your life, or the life of another, in an emergency. TW can inspire warm and balance social connections TW is influenced by feelings of JOY, FORGIVENESS and GRATITUDE TW is influence, for better or worse, by your thoughts and the power of your beliefs.
Exercises to Balance TW TRIPLE WARMER SMOOTHIE: Rest your face in your hands, palms at your chin, fingers at your temples. Hold for two breaths. Inhale and smooth the skin from the temples to above the ears Exhale and smooth the skin around the back of the ears, down the neck and put your hands on your shoulders (press in) two deep breaths Inhale and drag the hands, with pressure, down to the middle of the chest (heart chakra) and exhale.
Exercises to Balance TW TAPPING THE TW FEAR POINT: Place the left hand over the heart and with the right hand, tap on the gamut point on the back of the hand. Use all 4 fingers to tap along the entire ridge below the knuckle Pause and take a deep breath Tap about 30 more times on the same spot Tap on the other hand if still fearful.
Exercises to Balance TW CALMING THE TW NEUROVASCULAR POINTS: Make a three finger notch out of the thumb, index finger and middle finger of the right hand and place it in the V of your throat, right above the collarbone. Lay your left hand across the left side of your head with your fingers flat on the temple. Take 3-5 deep breaths. Change hands and repeat on the other side.
Exercises to Balance TW CALMING TW AND STABILIZING THE ADRENALS: Place both middle fingers in your navel and them move them out to the sides one inch Next move your fingers up the body one inch. Press or massage these Adrenal points deeply for seconds.
Exercises to Balance TW REPROGRAMMING TWs RESPONSE TO STRESS: Bring to mind a particularly difficult stress you are experiencing in your life at present (rate it 1-10). Have partner place palms of hands over temples on each side of the head, with the fingers touching over forehead. Hold for 5 mins. and keep thinking about the stress. Rate the stress now (1-10).
