1 8 WEEK MINDFULNESS COURSES This course will help you develop the awareness, understanding and skills that will enrich your life and help you face difficulties differently. The majority of people completing the programme report lasting physical and psychological benefits that include: An increased ability to relax and experience calms Greater energy, enthusiasm and appreciation for life Heightened self-confidence and more acceptance for life as it is An increased ability to cope effectively with stressful situations Being able to take better care of themselves Mindfulness is taught in a secular way, incorporating the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy approaches which include guided meditation practices, taught input and opportunities for reflection. You will also receive a handbook and a CD of guided meditations. The cost of the course is You can secure a place by paying a 25 deposit. You then have the option to pay in instalments. Discounted rates are available to those on means tested benefits. 3 MINDFULNESS FACILITATION COURSE This course has been developed for people who are interested in incorporating mindfulness techniques into their work but do not want,or are unable to embark on a teacher training programme. The training programme and course materials will provide all that you need to: Explain mindfulness in a way that is understood and relevant to the lives of the people you are working with Help them to reflect upon the causes and effects of stress from a mindfulness-based perspective Provide information and guidance around meditation posture and the use of the breath Lead simple mindfulness practices followed by an enquiry into their experience You will also be able to be part of a Mindfulness Facilitators Network where you will be able to access opportunities for further development, supervision from experienced teachers and peer support. The cost of the course is You can secure a place by paying a 25 deposit. You then have the option to pay in instalments. Discounted rates are available to those on means tested benefits. The course is open to people who have completed an 8 week MBSR or MBCT programmes or equivalent experience and at least 3 months of regular mindfulness practices. If you then wish to teach our 8 week Mindfulness course yourself as an Associate Teacher you will have an opportunity to support and co-facilitate courses run by Maureen. 5 MINDFULNESS PRACTICE DAYS We offer mindfulness meditation Practice Days based upon the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction programme developed by Kabat Zinn and the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy programme developed by Teasdale. The practice days are suitable for those coming to mindfulness practice for the first time as well as providing space for practitioners who are looking to sustain and develop their meditation practice. The days provide an opportunity set out of our busy lives and to reflect on the key principles of living mindfully and how to cultivate mindfulness in daily life. There will be extended periods of practice, opportunities to work with silence, plus an exploration of themes that arise from our experience There will also be an opportunity to eat, share and practice together as a group of meditation practitioners. The following Practice days will be led by Maureen O Callaghan and experienced mindfulness practitioner and qualified mindfulness teacher (Masters Programme, Bangor University). We will also be joined from time to time by other teachers.
