1 Ava Caradine MPH, RRT-NPS, AE-C AAE Member Since: 2015 Arkansas Children s Hospital Vision Statement: I want to help facilitate and be an impetus for better asthma management here in the natural state. My first priority is to get a State Plan Amendment and CMS approval so that the asthmatics in Arkansas that are not being followed by a pulmonologist or the asthma clinic can get the tools that they need to be successful in managing their asthma. I would also like to pioneer an asthma coalition, statewide asthma camp and host an asthma conference. The knowledge and relationships that I will gain from being a board member for the AAE will assist me in these endeavors.

AAE Member Since: 2008 Physician Assistant, Allergy & Asthma Center Vision Statement I would like to continue on the AAE Board to share my experiences caring for asthma patients. I have been caring for asthma patients since 1976 and believe I have skills and insights in caring for those patients that could be of value to other health care professionals. As a board member of AAE, I would like to advocate for other Physicians Assistants to become AE-C s. For various reasons, PA s have not pursued AE-C certification, including lack of CME credit for attending the certification review course. I would like to see more PA s become AE-C s, and will work toward achieving that goal.

3 ! Diane M. Kenny, RN, MSN, PNP-BC, AE-C AAE Member Since: 2011 Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Coordinator Vision Statement Advancing asthma care is the premise of my professional career. As a pediatric nurse practitioner for over 10 years, I have been caring for children with asthma and providing evidence-based education to patients and their families. I am committed to serve as a board member, embracing policy development that promotes asthma education. Empowering patients with asthma and their families to manage and maintain control is a vital role for all asthma educators. As a board member I will help invest in mentoring healthcare professionals, recruit members, promote Asthma Educator Certification, and uphold the mission and vision of AAE.

AAE Member Since: 2013 CTE Health Sciences Teacher at Greene Central High School Vision Statement: I have been a Respiratory Care Practitioner for over 30 years. Over 20 of those years I was a Case Manager then the Coordinator of a Pediatric Asthma Program. During that time, I assisted case managers in 8 counties in eastern NC with education, resources & materials, trainings, grant opportunities, equipment, and budgets. I was also co-chair of the NC Asthma Alliance for 10 years and assisted with providing partnerships for local & state government agencies, academic institutions, local coalitions, non-profits and private industry to work collaboratively to address asthma. I still continue my passion to help people with asthma through my teaching job. If I am voted to continue my role as Treasurer of the AAE board, I will continue to develop a budget, monitor and evaluate the AAE s financial progress.

5 LISA SCARBROUGH ISAACS MS, RRT, AE-C, CTTS AAE MEMBER SINCE: 2016 RESPIRATORY CLINICAL SPECIALIST ENVOLVE PEOPLECARE Vision statement: To help promote a platform for leaders in asthma research, education, and awareness to come together and share their resources. I would be proud to help collaborate and organize future meetings and conferences so that ideas and tools are shared by a trusted resource. I envision the AAE as a wealth of information and contacts shared across the country to empower professionals and the people they work with.

6 Lynne Abbott MSN, RN, AE-C, HHS! AAE MEMBER SINCE: 2015 Healthy Homes Program Nurse Linn County Public Health, Cedar Rapids, IA Vision Statement: Currently I manage the county asthma program that serves our low income residents with uncontrolled asthma. I am the Certified Asthma Educator and Certified Healthy Homes Specialist for the program. I am exploring the development of a Community Health Worker (CHW) program that would increase the program capacity. Another component that I would like to incorporate into the program are the social determinants of health with the help of the CHW. It is the hope that the Community Health Workers will be able to not only provide asthma education but also serve as a system navigator for the clients helping them to connect with needed services. As a board member, I would like to share the many ideas I have for making AAE a more interactive organization with multiple opportunities for members to get involved and stay connected. I would welcome the opportunity to share my experiences and learn from my peers while making the AAE the best it can be to better the lives of those living with asthma.

7 Melinda Sue Shuler, BSBA, RRT, RCP, NDC, HHS, AE-C! AAE MEMBER SINCE: 2016 Regional Clinical Supervisor of the Regional Asthma Disease Management Program of Mission Children s Hospitals. Principal Investigator, Project Manager and Grant Administrator of the National Asthma Control Initiative, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, US Environmental Protection Agency Asthma Grant of WNC, and the Office of Rural Health Asthma Grant of WNC. Vision Statement: One of the four qualities of effective leadership, Reverend Billy Graham addressed was vision-the ability to see what needs to be done and how to get there. Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. (Proverbs 29:18) As a potential board member of the AAE, I envision helping to provide connectivity to state and national partners including the: (1) state asthma alliances; (2) National Asthma Education Prevention Program of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute; (3) Asthma Allergy Foundation of America; and (4) Community Colleges (in an attempt to create a national CHW curriculum, disease specific--the AAE-CHW module would address asthma); A combined effort will help to strengthen and move forward the goals of the AAE and impact those affected by asthma.

Michael Shoemaker, MBA, RRT-NPS, AE-C AAE MEMBER SINCE: 2012 Manager, Respiratory Care Services, AnMed Health Women's and Children's Hospital/ Program Coordinator Asthmania Academy Vision Statement: The Association of Asthma Educators Vision Statement parallels many of my personal beliefs and interests. It has been my experience at AAE Conferences and through personal interactions with current members and Board members that the AAE values different perspectives and collaboration. It has been an honor to serve on the AAE Board of Directors for the past three years as Treasurer in , and as Vice-President in I am continually humbled by the breadth of experience, knowledge, expertise, and passion among members and fellow Board members of the AAE. Continuing to serve on the AAE Board of Directors would afford me opportunities to 1) learn from others, and 2) share my experiences so that, together, we can improve life for people with asthma.

9 Tami Kochan RN MSN CPNP AE-C AAE MEMBER SINCE: 2016 Hillsboro Pediatrics Vision Statement for AAE I am interested in being on the AAE Board because I am passionate about asthma education. I love to work alongside those of other disciplines on helping to improve the outcomes of asthma through education of those working in the field as well as the patients and their families. I feel I work well with others in creating and organizing projects and programs. I am a good communicator with other members of the team. I am open in providing my opinion on the subject but also able to listen to others before making an informed decision.

Waddell, MS Ed, AE-C AAE MEMBER SINCE: 2014 Asthma Coalition of Erie County/American Lung Association West Seneca, NY Vision Statement for Association of Asthma Educators Board of Directors: The term for Coalition is as varied as it is for Community Health Worker. My vision, is that AAE has a distinct opportunity to educate and establish best practice models for its members around Coalition Building. I feel there is a direct correlation between the work of CHWs and coalitions in their communities to work together and bridge the gaps in services for all asthma patients. I feel that my experience in volunteer recruitment and training, combined with my knowledge and practice of asthma education for patients and their families, would make this a great area to utilize my skills.
