17 Impact of Education: Patients and Providers Set New Goals Asthma patient Asthma specialist I understand much better as to why you ask the questions you do during my appointments. I will start paying more attention to these specific symptoms that are important for you to know - especially the nighttime wheezing. I need to do a better job at asking you the right questions. Simply asking how is your asthma is not specific enough. I think from now on, I will ask about specific triggers and reference some of the uncontrolled vs. controlledcriteria.

19 Impact of Education: What Patients and Providers Report IMPACT OF EDUCATION ON PROVIDERS I can tell my patients learned a lot but I learned a lot about them tonight and think there are better ways to get communication open based on some of what they asked. I can see where my challenges are with getting certain patients to adhere to their treatment plans and I really think this program helped open them up to things as well. -Chicago, IL I really was not expecting so many questions. This only shows how much programs like this are needed. - Louisville, KY This is such a great idea to have an informational session like this. An office visit for them is so formal and I am usually sitting behind a computer asking questions that are most important for treatment. A program like this gives them that extra time to ask all their questions. -Miami, FL IMPACT OF EDUCATION ON PATIENTS It was great to have my doctor explain asthma in a relaxed, comfortable, non-rushed environment. -Bronx, NY I learned about triggers, how to control my symptoms, and information about drugs coming out. -Milford, CT I gained knowledge of types of asthmas and common patients fears. -Winter Park, FL [I like when] the doctor listens to what patients are saying!
