1 2017 Sponsorship Opportunities Our Mission The Autism Project (TAP) is a unique collaboration of parents, professionals, and community members who provide quality support, training, and programming to children, teens, and adults with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), their families, and the professionals who serve them. At TAP, our vision is to build a world where individuals with an ASD are valued, actively participating members of their communities. To achieve this vision, TAP provides multiple training programs for parents, educators, and professionals, runs social skills groups and a summer camp for children with an ASD, provides daily one-on-one support and consultations to parents and families across Rhode Island, and increases Autism awareness through our National Speaker Conference and our Imagine Walk and Family Fun Day for Autism. The Autism Spectrum Disorder statistics are sobering. About 1 in 68 children (over 10,000 Rhode Islanders) have been identified with an ASD according to estimates from CDC's Autism and Developmental Disabilities Monitoring (ADDM) Network. Autism is the fastest growing serious developmental disability in the world, and more than 1,787 students with an ASD currently attend Rhode Island s public schools. In addition, according to a Harvard University study, the cost to raise an individual with an ASD across a lifetime is $3.2 million (Michael Gantz, 2006). Gantz estimates that annual indirect costs for individuals with an ASD and their families range from more than $39,000 to nearly $130,000. In the face of this growing epidemic, it is our goal at TAP to have the resources to accommodate every family that turns to us for assistance our programs, services, and trainings are accessible to all. The children, teens, and adults with an ASD that we work with learn essential social, emotional, and cognitive skills that foster independence and enable them to live their best possible lives. But with the number of Rhode Islanders diagnosed with an ASD continuing to skyrocket, TAP needs to remain at the forefront of developing new and innovative programs, resources, and supports for all those who depend on us - and this we can only do through the support of individuals, local businesses, foundations, and corporations in our community; making the connection together between ASD awareness and action.

2 The Autism Project s 15 th Annual Imagine Walk and Family Fun Day for Autism The Autism Project s Annual Imagine Walk and Family Fun Day for Autism is one of the largest walk events in Rhode Island and is held in conjunction with National Autism Awareness month, ensuring tremendous visibility for our cause and our Walk throughout the month of April. Walk attendance and outreach has increased each year, with over 8,500 individuals participating in The Imagine Walk attracts family members young and old as well as educators, health care professionals, and others working to support those with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Funds raised through the Imagine Walk go directly towards programs, services, and trainings for children, teens, and adults living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. The Imagine Walk is The Autism Project s largest fundraiser of the year, and has generated over $1 million dollars in support of transforming the lives of children and adults with Autism. Imagine Walk Event Details Date: April 30, 2017 Time: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Location: Goddard Memorial State Park, Warwick, Rhode Island Expected Attendance: 8,500 + Imagine Walk Event Description The two kilometer Imagine Walk kicks-off at 10:00 a.m. and is enjoyed by thousands of individuals and teams as they walk through beautiful Goddard Park. The walk is followed by a Family Fun Day event that features an assortment of activities designed for children and teens with an Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as for other members of the family. Fun Day activities include: An obstacle course Bounce houses Face painting Arts and crafts Pony rides A reptile show Learning labs and demonstrations A food tent The Autism Project s Information Booth VIP Tent 2
