6 Keynote Speaker Pamela High, MD Director, Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics Hasbro Children s Hospital Professor of Pediatrics, The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University Dr. High is professor of Pediatrics and director of the Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics (DBP) at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She directs both fellowship and residency training in DBP at Hasbro Children s Hospital in Providence, R.I. The recent past president of the Society of Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics (SDBP), Dr. High is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Early Brain and Child Development Leadership Workgroup. She represents DBP on the Council of Pediatric Subspecialties and was recently appointed to the DBP Sub-Board of the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. High sees patients and families as a member of interdisciplinary teams and supervises fellows in developmental assessment, care and research in the Hasbro Children s Neurodevelopment Center and at the Brown Center for the Study of Children at Risk. Clinical and research interests include infant behavioral issues such as colic, sleep and feeding problems, anticipatory guidance, including literacy promotion in primary care, and the interrelationship of medical and psychological problems in childhood. Her local advocacy efforts include serving on Rhode Island s Early Learning Council and on the boards of RI Kids Count and RI Reach Out and Read. Program Overview We invite you to join us for the eighth annual Developmental-Behavioral Pediatric Update: Nurturing Developing Minds, presented by Children s Hospital of Greenville Health System in collaboration with the SC LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) Program. This popular conference offers a blend of research updates and practical applications on various aspects of child development. Participants can expect to take away practical tools to use immediately in their work. In 2014, our special focus is on understanding the full scope of how adverse childhood experiences disrupt developing brain architecture and have lifelong impact on children s health and well-being. Program Objectives As a result of the 2014 conference, participants are expected to improve their knowledge about and competence in interventions in infancy and early childhood that promote optimal health and development; approaches to minimize the toxic effects of adverse early childhood experiences on subsequent health and development of children; programs to assist parents in developing skills and approaches to manage challenging child behaviors; and management of neurodevelopmental disorders including autism and ADHD. Accreditation The Greenville Health System designates this Live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. The Greenville Health System is accredited by the South Carolina Medical Association to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
