1 IT S MORE COMMON THAN MOST REALIZE. 1 IN 5 PATIENTS MAY HARBOR DIAGNOSABLE MENTAL ILLNESS 1 LabCorp can help you identify the patients that can benefit from treatment M3 CHECKLIST: A Multidimensional Screen for Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, and PTSD with an Option for Alcohol Misuse

2 MENTAL ILLNESS IS COMMON AND NEEDS TO BE TREATED AS SERIOUSLY AS PHYSICAL ILLNESSES. According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), any mental illness (AMI) is defined as currently or at any time in the past 12 months having had a diagnosable mental, behavioral, or emotional disorder (excluding developmental and substance use disorders) of sufficient duration to meet diagnostic criteria specified within the DSM-IV. 1 The first line of defense in mental health screening typically resides in a primary care setting. The majority of mental health visits occur with primary care physicians, and these same professionals write the bulk of antidepressant and antianxiety prescriptions for mood and anxiety disorders. 2 Routinely evaluating mental health within a primary care setting can be an effective way to identify these disorders, leading to appropriate diagnoses and treatment. LabCorp is proud to offer an efficient, time saving, and comprehensive tool for screening and monitoring of these issues. Nearly 43.6 million Americans, or 18.1% of all adults, have dealt with such a disorder in the past year. 1 Of those, less than half receive needed treatment. 3

4 An efficient and powerful tool. Within about 30 seconds, most clinicians can review and be prepared for a patient discussion Jane Doe 03/26/1961 (Age 55) :06 PM Using the Physician/ Patient Data Flow results flow into your system PM Optional AUDIT-C Alcohol Risk

5 M3 CHECKLIST: A MULTIDIMENSIONAL SCREEN FOR DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, BIPOLAR DISORDER AND PTSD M3 Checklist s benefit lies both within its simplicity and complexity. Offered for the first time through LabCorp, M3 Checklist is a nationally-recognized, peerreviewed and clinically validated tool 2 that compiles and evaluates a patient s potential for mood and anxiety symptoms using a secure web-based system. Increase your confidence in your ability to detect and diagnose behavioral health concerns. A study involving this checklist found the psychometric properties of the 27-item M3 Checklist assessment tool compare favorably with those of currently-used single-disorder screening tools. For patients, an easy-to-use web-based questionnaire that assesses common indications relating to mental health is completed within minutes. Those patient responses are compiled, quantified, and calculated into an M3 Score and component subscores, offering an assessment of an individual s diagnosis risk: negative, low, medium, or high. This score is included in a detailed M3 Checklist report that can then be used to help guide discussion with a patient during a visit and/or to determine any needed action. M3 Checklist offers other advantages beyond just depression screening: Integrates screening for anxiety, bipolar disorder, and PTSD concerns. Provides added detail to help determine severity and comorbid psychological problems, as suggested by U.S. Preventive Services Task Force. 4 Optional assessment using the AUDIT-C for alcohol misuse available. Secure, easy-to-use web- and mobile-friendly interface that take patients mere minutes to complete.
