5 Mental Illnesses Very Common 1 in 4 adults (1 in 10 for serious) 1 in 5 children 50% by age 14 & 75% by age 26 Specifically: Depression (7%) Bipolar Disorder (3%) Schizophrenia (1%) Anxiety (18%)

14 Who gets psychosis? Up to 6% of people Found in all cultures Affects males and females equally Can occur at any age but typically occurs in late teens/early adulthood
15 Causes of Psychosis Diseases such as Parkinson s, HIV and Huntington s Certain medications Extreme stress Brain tumors and cysts Drug and alcohol use and withdrawal Depression Bipolar Disorder Schizophrenia
