2 Thirteenth Annual Pediatric Surgical Oncology Review Course Course Information: The Thirteenth Annual Pediatric Surgical Oncology Review Course is an educational course which focuses on presenting the current surgical management of children with malignant solid tumors. This year s meeting will be held on Saturday, March 24 th, and Sunday, March 25 th, on the campus of in Memphis, TN. Experts will present summaries of the critical issues on the surgical management of major pediatric solid tumors (Neuroblastoma, Wilms Tumor, Sarcomas, Liver Tumors, and Germ Cell Tumors), as well as reviews of rare pediatric solid tumors. In addition, presentations on Mediastinal Mass, Vascular Tumors, and Management of Pulmonary Metastatic Disease will be made. Significant time will be allotted to illustrative case presentations and group discussion. The Institute of Medicine Core Competency that applies to this educational activity will be Evidence-Based Practice (integrate best research with clinical expertise and patient values for optimum care, and participate in learning and research activities to the extent feasible). Target Audience: This 1½ day long course is designed for General Pediatric Surgical Fellows and Junior Faculty who are COG Institutional Surgery RIs. Slots will be available for all fellows who sign up; openings for junior faculty will be limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Learning Objectives: Review pre-operative workup of children with various pediatric malignancies. Present the staging systems for pediatric solid malignancies. Discuss operative management of pediatric solid tumors. Present overall multimodality care of pediatric solid tumors. Discuss rare pediatric solid tumors. St. Jude treats more than 4,000 patients, most of whom are treated on a continuing outpatient basis as part of ongoing research programs. St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and from around the world. St. Jude covers the costs of medical treatment not covered by health insurance and families without insurance are never asked to pay.
