The Junior Executive Board (JEB) was formed by young professionals in the Birmingham business community in Since then, we have been very successful in our fund-raising efforts, raising over $800,000 for the fight against cancer through two signature events, the Brenda Ladun Conquer Cancer Run and the Black-Out Cancer. Our dedication, teamed with the support of the American Cancer Society and our generous sponsors like you, has proven to be a powerful combination and has made the Birmingham chapter the largest Junior Executive Board for the American Cancer Society in the nation. This year, it is estimated there will be more than 1.6 million people who will receive a cancer diagnosis, along with nearly 590,000 who will die from this disease nationwide. In Alabama, the American Cancer Society estimates there will be more than 23,000 new cancer cases this year, along with more than 10,000 deaths. By partnering with the American Cancer Society, you are helping to find a cure for cancer and reduce the burden this disease has on our community. We are again offering our sponsors the opportunity to have exposure at BOTH events for the same price as one event. This means DOUBLE the exposure for your company and the chance to reach thousands across the Birmingham area through numerous and diverse media channels. Brenda Ladun Overview: The 11 th Annual 5K/1 Mile Brenda Ladun Conquer Cancer Run is set to take place at St. Vincent s One Nineteen Health & Wellness in Hoover on Saturday, March 7, ABC 33/40 is gracious enough to sponsor this event, allowing the American Cancer Society Junior Executive Board to offer Birmingham businesses many sponsorship benefits. This run is unique because it is the only official race in the Birmingham area that raises money for the American Cancer Society. The race celebrates the lives of cancer survivors and our loved ones lost to all types of cancer by listing their names on the back of the race shirt and giving all cancer survivors a unique shirt to wear the day of the race. Who is Involved in the Community? Last year, we had over 100 Birmingham corporations and businesses involved on various levels to make this event possible. We expect even greater support in Target Audience/Number of Attendants: In 2015, we expect 1,500 Children and Adults of All Ages; Family Friendly Publicity: Since 2009, the event has been publicized through the following channels: ABC 33/40, Over The Mountain Journal, The Birmingham News, al.com, Birmingham Magazine, 280 Living Magazine, Shelby County Living Magazine, The Shelby County Reporter, and various radio stations. Other publicity efforts included internet blogs and calendars, flyers, posters, yard signs, T-Shirts, flashing billboards, 4 highway billboards in Hoover, Homewood, Highway 280 area, and Highway 31 area. We plan to have a similar publicity campaign for the 2015 event. Where Does the Money Go? All money raised from this event will go to the American Cancer Society to help fund cancer education, advocacy, research, and patient services in the Birmingham community.

3 Advantages of Working with the American Cancer Society Global Movement, Local Impact The American Cancer Society funds eight researchers in Birmingham, totaling more than four million dollars in grants. Over the past 50 years, we have given $24 million to fund research efforts in the Birmingham area. We have served thousands of cancer patients in the Birmingham area in 2014 through support groups and free patient services. The Joe Lee Griffin Hope Lodge in Birmingham was established in 2000 and serves over 400 families each year, saving them over 1 million dollars annually. Through our 25+ signature fundraising events, friends, neighbors and coworkers from all over Jefferson and Shelby Counties generously support the American Cancer Society s mission to eliminate cancer as a major health epidemic, saving lives and diminishing suffering. We have over 25,000 loyal constituents who serve our area as donors, leaders, and volunteers. According to the 2007 survey conducted by Harris Interactive, no other health organization, cancer or non-cancer related, is more-well known than the American Cancer Society.
