3 Statement of Need: With rapidly evolving treatment options and technological advances in breast cancer and its sequelae, clinicians are continually challenged to remain up-to-date on their knowledge. New oncological surgical, breast conserving and reconstruction techniques and advances in radiation oncology with Intra-operative Radiation Therapy (IORT), a state-of-the-art cancer treatment that delivers a single dose of radiation therapy, multidisciplinary care coordination among a team of experts to oversee breast cancer patients from diagnosis to post-treatment is integral to receiving optimal care. Through lecture, panel discussion and simulation, this symposium will focus on collaboration and team approaches to give physicians and clinicians the tools to effectively communicate to their patients a comprehensive plan of treatment choices. This symposium will enable participants across all disciplines to refine their knowledge and understand individualized therapeutic options for surgery, radiation and neurosurgical management of metastases. Participants will be presented with the latest national guidelines on cancer care from the National Cancer Comprehensive Network (NCCN) and American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and will review the Tumor, Lymph Nodes, Metastasis (TNM) Staging system. Program Objectives: All Northwell Health CME activities are intended to improve patient care, safety and outcomes. At the conclusion of the conference, the participants should be able to: Review advances made in oncological breast surgery improving patient options and choices for breast conserving surgery versus mastectomy. Analyze comprehensive treatment options with their patients for breast reconstruction in breast conserving surgery or mastectomy. Evaluate new treatments in radiation oncology and when they can be combined with surgery and in targeting brain metastases. Define spine stereotactic surgery and its application in managing metastases to the spine. Recognize the importance of identifying the newest treatment options and technologies for breast cancer patients available in their communities.
