1 2015 ANNUAL REPORT
2 It is the most amazing feeling in the world to be standing on a stage with 40 other people who have all helped create this giant beautiful piece of art that is our original musical. I am extremely grateful for what The ASCAP Foundation has done for me and the other people who attended Lovewell this summer because of you. Megan, Lovewell Institute for the Creative Arts student who received a scholarship from The ASCAP Foundation OUR MISSION The ASCAP Foundation is dedicated to nurturing the music talent of tomorrow, preserving the legacy of the past and sustaining the creative incentive for today's creators through a variety of educational, professional, and humanitarian programs and activities which serve the entire music community. Natalie Merchant visiting the Fresh Air Fund Summer Camp

The winning works are selected through a juried national competition. The ASCAP Foundation Morton Gould Young Composer Awards seek to encourage talented concert composers under 30 years of age. This program was established with funding from the Jack and Amy Norworth Memorial Fund. Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong Summer Jazz Camp in New Orleans nurtures the next generation of jazz artists while paying tribute to the legacy of Louis Armstrong. It is designed for students serious about furthering their musical education and interested in learning more about jazz. Music Education & Community Outreach Music in the Schools is a partnership between The ASCAP Foundation, VH1 Save the Music Foundation and Alfred Music Publishing, Inc. We provide schools with packages of music materials consisting of folios, sheet music, band arrangements and method books so that students have quality music to play and practice. Children Will Listen introduces the American musical theatre to youngsters who might otherwise not have the opportunity to experience it. Children Will Listen was established to honor ASCAP member and musical theatre great Stephen Sondheim. Students are provided with classroom materials, transportation to and from the theater, tickets with excellent seats, and, for many, their very first opportunity to see a first class theatrical production. Children Will Listen participants after seeing Newsies
7 Creativity in the Classroom: Creative Ownership and Copyright is a curriculum designed to help young music students understand the value of their creative work, their rights as owners of intellectual property, and the ethics of protecting the rights of others. The project encourages students to label their creative work with the copyright symbol, the year, and their names, just as they see on any published, professional creative work. The ASCAP Foundation Fresh Air Fund Summer Guitar Project makes musical expression more accessible to hundreds of economically disadvantaged New York City children by providing musical instruments, music lessons and visiting songwriting teachers to the Fresh Air Fund Summer Camps every year. Thank you for your help. If it wasn't for you we wouldn't get to learn how to play the violin. Thanks to you our music teacher gives us fun music to play. Hopefully kids next year can come to this wonderful class with a wonderful teacher. Janelle, 4th grader at Maurice Sendak School
