2 Hear ye, Hear ye We Serve The liner QE2 moves only 6 inches for each gallon of diesel fuel that it consumes. The chances of making 2 holes in one in a round of golf are one in 67 million. The largest diamond ever found was an astounding 3,106 carats. Most lipsticks contain fish scales. More than 10% of the world s salt is used to de-ice American roads. Member meetings are held on the 3 rd Monday of each month. OR log on to the Roswell Lions Calendar at calendar LEO CLUB UPDATE Lions Mike Malone, Tom Spudic and Bill Jones have volunteered to be our Lion Advisors to the Centennial HS LEO Club. The faculty advisor position will be announced in August. NFCC VOLUNTEER DAY July 13 th. INTER-CLUB MEETING UPDATE The Woodstock Lions May DINNER meeting has been rescheduled for JULY 28 th. A LUNCHEON meeting with the Atlanta Lions Club is scheduled for JULY 23 rd. Contact Lion Kay Brown if interested in attending either or both. ISPS GOLF OUTING August at the City Club Marietta, Marietta, GA. BOARD/PLANNING MEETING July 6 th, 6:30PM, The Counter located on Mansell Road near Highway 9 in the Longhorn Steakhouse Shopping Center. REGULAR MEETING September 21 st, 7PM, SITE TBD. There are no regular meetings currently scheduled for July and August. REGULAR MEETING SITE IS BEING CHANGED. NEW LOCATION WILL BE ADVISED SHORTLY. Board meetings are held on the 2 nd Monday of each month. All members are eligible, and encouraged, to attend. SEPTEMBER - TBD
3 Birthdays In July Frank Beck 7/9 Cindy Kasharis 7/17 Jim Owen 7/23 Mike Henleben 7/24 John Whetsell 7/28 From Your Lion Family Cupcakes Courtesy of The Sunshine Boys Milt Brand & Tim Dunn Membership Count By Definition The Lion Tamer shall have charge of and be responsible for the property and paraphernalia of the Club, including flags, banners, gong, gavel, song books and badges. Each item shall be put in its proper place before each meeting and returned to the proper storage area after each meeting. The Lion Tamer shall act as Sergeant-at-Arms at meetings, see that those present are properly seated, and distribute bulletins, favors and literature as required at Club and Board meetings vvvv In reality, the Lion Tamer is the unsung Lion that ensures the meeting is readied for the presiding officer to chair a function that will be well run, effective and entertaining. Unfortunately, too often the meeting site is taken for granted and that it just happens. Lion Vince has been a Lion for 10+ years and our Club Lion Tamer for all of them; he was the District Lion Tamer during the tenure of G0vernor Alan Bethel and is a regular attendee at District and State Conventions. Recently, he sponsored two new members Frank and Melissa Beck. In summary, he has been a person of extreme dependability and dedication in carrying out his member responsibilities and in representing the Roswell Lions Club. The good news for the RLC is that he has volunteered to remain as Tamer for the Lion year. In recognition of this service, Lion Vince was awarded the President s Medal of Appreciation at the Officer Installation dinner. We as a club are fortunate thank you Lion Vince for your continued exemplary service.
4 - Centennial Members Melissa and Frank Beck with their sponsor and President s Appreciation Award recipient Lion Vince Kartley Outgoing President Mike Henleben receiving his Melvin Jones Fellow Award from presiding officer Lion Phil Farias Lion Dr. Richard Gambino with Roswell Revue reporter Hillary Hunnings and her father Darryl whose relative also participated in the WW2 invasion of Normandy. A newspaper article about Lion Richard will soon appear in the News Dr. Richard Gambino received a Lifetime Achievement Award for his soon-to-be 65 years of service as a Lion Incoming President Lion Tim Dunn received his President s Pin, the Gavel and the Club Award as Lion of the Year
