1 Fall Festival September Crystal Lake Lions will again man the beer tent at the Immanuel Lutheran Church s Fall Festival. This event will take place on Friday, September 21, Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23. Co chairing this event for the Club will be Lions John Landon and Tom Rancak. Lion President Randy Funk accepts a $1,000 check from Mary Margaret Maule of the Chamber of Commerce for the Crystal Lake Lions Club s work in setting up the Independence Day Parade. Candy Day Candy Days this year will be on Friday and Saturday, October 12 and 13. Lions all over Illinois will solicit donations and give rolls of candy in exchange. Crystal Lake Lions will man posts at Country Donuts, Jewel-Osco, the railroad station and many other sites. Lion Mark Daniel will again chair this event for the Crystal Lake Lions Club. He will be ably assisted by Lion Richard Kraft. A temporary Candy Day office will be in the rear of the Cottage and should be open from 8am Friday until the evening and 8am Saturday until mid afternoon. To sign up or for questions, contact Lion Mark Daniel at (815) or golfcart14@sbcglobal.net. Upcoming Events - Mark Your Calendars Monday, September 10 First Fall Meeting Cottage 6:30pm Monday, September 24 Program Meeting Village Squire 6:30pm Monday, October 8 Board Meeting Cottage 6:30pm Fri/Sat, October 12, 13 CANDY DAYS Various Sites Volunteers are needed to sell and pour beer and wine, sell wrist bands and put them on the buyers, and check identifications to avoid selling to any minors. Hours will be from 5pm to 10 pm on Friday, from 1pm to 10pm on Saturday and from1pm to 5pm on Sunday. Friday shifts are from 4-7 and Saturday noon to 4, 4-7 and Sunday from noon 3 and 3-5. The noon start requires some time to clean up and prepare. Late shifts may require some late cleanup. Contact Lion John Landon at landon@mc.net or (815) to volunteer for one or more shifts. One early shift on Friday from 1pm-4pm will be devoted to erecting the barrier fencing that will surround the beer tent and performance area. CL Lions are needed for this event. It will be a great opportunity for our Club to be visible to the community while raising funds for those we help.
2 Fellow Lions President s Letter September begins another year for our Club. If we can match last year's performance-it would be an awesome accomplishment! The board has had its summer meetings and nothing dramatic has happened. The budget will be similar to last year with few changes. No need to raise dues. We will meet at The Cottage the 2nd Monday and at The Squire the 4th Monday. We are reviewing our website to look to improve and upgrade it. The first meeting is Monday Sept. 10th at the Cottage. Looking to have a good turnout. Candy Days will be on our minds this meeting as well as manning the Beer Tent at The Immanuel Lutheran Fall Festival. Lion Mark Daniel has been busy getting the sites booked and signing up Lions for shifts at the various locations around town. Please let him know when you can help and also-sponsorships for $80 a case are a big part of Candy Days. Lions John Landon and Tom Ranzak are running the beer tent at the Church Fall Festival. This takes place the September weekend of 09/21 to 09/23. Modern Day Romeos is playing there Saturday night and they usually draw a big crowd. Pray for normal fall weather (last year sucked)! Need Lions to help man the tent. Great time to bring your spouse. friends, and neighbors to help out. Please put the Steak fry on your calendars now-saturday Feb. 2nd. This should be an all Lions in event. Getting sponsorships is the key to a successful event-all should partipate!
