10 Accelerating malaria elimination New drugs with following key properties are needed: 1. Novel mechanisms of action to anticipate emergence of artemisinin resistance 2. Single dose treatment to improve patient compliance and target asymptomatic patients 3. Drug that kill gametocytes and prevent parasite transmission 4. Drugs with prophylactic activity 5. P. vivax radical cure to prevent disease relapse 6. Drugs for special populations (pregnant women; G6PD deficiency)
