Virologic Surveillance Influenza-Associated Hospitalizations and Deaths A total of 61 influenza-associated hospitalizations were reported by 52 hospitals. The cumulative hospitalization rate is 47.7 per 1,. There were 38 laboratory-confirmed influenzaassociated death reported; however, 8 deaths occurred in previous weeks. The cumulative mortality rate is 1.7 per 1,. Compared to the previous week, the number of reported hospitalizations increased by 129 (27.3%) and number of reported deaths increased by 6 (25.%). In the current flu season, there have been 2,365 influenza-associated hospitalizations and 84 influenza-associated deaths reported. Influenza-Like Illness Surveillance A total of 17,894 influenza cases (17,526 positive rapid antigen detection tests; 368 lab-confirmed tests) were reported from 46 counties representing all four DHEC Public Health regions. Influenza A was most frequently reported by clinical labs and Influenza A(H3) and A(H1N1) was most frequently reported by the public health lab. Compared to the previous week, this is an increase of 3,621 cases (25.4%). In the current flu season, there have been 59,425 influenza cases (57,945 positive rapid antigen detection tests; 1,48 lab-confirmed tests) reported.
