Podrazumijeva: čišćenje, dezinfekciju i sterilizaciju. ČIŠĆENJE postupak kojim se primjenom mehaničkih i/ili kemijskih čimbenika otklanja vidljiva nečistoća, ali i dio mikroorganizama (99%). DEZINFEKCIJA postupak kojim se uništavaju ili inaktiviraju mikroorganizmi (99,999%) izuzev bakterijskih spora. Razlikujemo visoki, srednji i niski stupanj dezinfekcije.
