We have a wide range of DVD s in activities, you are more than welcome to borrow from our collection. Welcome to our new residents and families. Please feel free to come to the Activities centre and join in or make any suggestions you feel will benefit our Program. We would like to extend our invitation to any family members or friends to join the Wednesday walk group at 2 p.m. Our residents gain so much from these outdoor adventures. Sudoku Puzzle...6 Quote Of The Month A bird doesn t sing because it has an answer, it sings because it has a song. -LOU HOLTZ- Walk Group and bus outings are governed by the cold weather at this time of year, however we do follow the Program where possible. The Movie Matinee will be a different experience in the future for everyone as we have just installed a new theatre system this will give a much better sound and the larger screen will provide easier viewing for all. BBQ Day will be something to look forward to, we have contacted Camden Haven High School music department, they are keen to be involved, we will have 3 senior music students coming to entertain us. 2 From The Don s Desk Winter has arrived. This season is typical for temperature changes and the Flu season. I encourage all residents, their families and visitors to get their 2018 flu vaccination. I as a registered vaccination nurse can administer vaccines for the residents but all other visitors must attend their local doctors; I encourage you all to be vaccinated. Visitors to our facility will be excluded if they present with coughing and/or sneezing as this is the way infection is spread and our vulnerable residents are at extremely high risk of catching the flu. Likewise for our staff; they will be put on sick leave until coughs/ sneezes have abated. The facility is air conditioned and there is no need to open windows and doors-this action results in upsetting the air conditioning within the entire facility and thus the need to reset all areas. The best remedy for flu management is rest and plenty of fluids; keep up your intake of food and treat the symptoms as they arise. Most of our residents 87% have already received their 2018 vaccination as have our staff-94%. Please see me if you require further information on immunisations. Julianne McKenzie DON LAKEVIEW WING 2

Remember you do not have to be religious or even spiritual to speak with the chaplain; all you have to be is human. The chaplain represents a person that is non-religious, non-discrimitory and non-judgmental! Thanks be to a higher power! Did you know our Director Of Nursing is also a Chaplain? Resident/Relative Meetings The next resident relative meeting will be held in the activities Centre at 2pm on Monday 18 June This is held once a month. Come along and meet other residents and relatives. Meeting Minutes are available in each edition of the newsreel. Coach Outings Outings this month will be held on 7, 14, 21, 28 June The coach will leave at 2pm sharp. Coach outings are usually held each Thursday afternoon and are subject to change due to inclement weather. Please check dates and times with the Activities staff. In May we took a trip to The Boat She at Dunbogan and Kew Corner Store the weather was fabulous and had delicious afternoon tea In May we celebrated with a Mother s day morning tea. With beautiful china, decorations, yummy food, and wonderful entertainment. The Lakeview Wing is open! It was enjoyed be our residents and family members We are excited to announce that the Lakeview wing is open, and the residence and families are loving the café, are enjoying there beautiful views and private ensuite bathrooms. Rooms are filling up, so if you would like to book a tour contact Kristy the Admissions Manager. 4

6 Laurieton Lakeside Aged Care Residence June 2018 Stay active Physio Exercise Class Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday s at 2pm. Walking Group every Wednesday at 2pm ( Weather Permitting) Strength & balance classes Wednesday at 10am. Remember; Exercise is good for the body & Soul. SUDOKU Traditional Sudoku is a 9x9 puzzle grid made up of nine 3x3 regions. Each region, row, and column contains nine cells each. See the example below. The numbers shown in the example are the "givens". These numbers can not be changed in any puzzle. You solve the puzzle by filling in the empty cells with a single number (from all the possible candidates) that doesn't violate Sudoku rules. There is only one correct number per cell. Scan the "givens" looking for the same number in different rows, columns, or regions. Eliminate cells for consideration by applying the Sudoku rules using these numbers.
