2 Activities of FMD Laboratory and Networking OIE Reference Laboratory for FMD, Pakchong, Thailand
3 The DLD refurbished laboratory capacity by constructing a BSL-3 Containment Laboratory. The Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Laboratory in PAKCHONG, was first established in The South East Asia Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Regional Reference Laboratory (RRL) in Pakchong, Thailand was accredited as an OIE Reference Laboratory for FMD since The BSL-3 laboratory has been designated as the SEAFMD RRL and was officially opened in 11 October 2004, and since then has received samples from South East Asian countries.

21 Summary In 2014, serotype A/Sea-97 is predominant in Thailand and Lao PDR, serotype O/Mya-98 in Cambodia. FMD serotype A in 2014 belonged to ASIA topotype, Sea-97 strain. FMD serotype O in 2014 belonged to SEA topotype, Mya-98 strain. New lineage of serotype A is observed. No Asia1 detected in 2014
