28 Communication Strategies Look directly at the person when speaking. Even a slight turn of your head can obscure a person s speech reading view. 5. Do not place anything in or over your mouth when speaking. Mustaches can obscure the lips. Smoking, chewing, and putting your hands in front of your face make it difficult for a person to follow what is being said.

35 Evaluation Comments I found the exercises interesting and helps to understand what it is like for a person who is deaf/ hard of hearing. Speechreading exercise and listening exercise gave me a deeper understanding of hearing loss. Now I understand how difficult it is to try to lipread and to understand what is being said accurately. The activities really hit home!
36 Evaluation Comments All the videos and exercises to help us get a better understanding of what it's like to have a hearing loss even though we will never fully know. I will take into consideration the ways I can communicate with others. Take the time to understand how someone with hearing loss and any other disability feels when interacting with the so called "normal" population.
