5 LIPread functionality enhances real world listening. Lip reading speech audiometry is a well known test method combining auditory and visual speech cues in order to avoid isolating words and sentences. Today, this feature is available in American and British English languages with the American version developed at the University of Iowa. The aim of the lip reading speech test is to enhance the ability to estimate real-world listening skills and to predict benefit from sensory aid use in adult and children with varying degrees of hearing loss. The lip reading test integration in MADSEN Astera 2 is simple to use offering a clear overview of the speech sentences on the primary screen and a floating window with video of the talkers on the secondary screen. The storing of the results allows accurate follow up of the progress. Iowa material contains both an adult and a children s version. The LIPread application is optional in MADSEN Astera 2. My experiences from 5-10 years ago were not so great, but the Astera is very easy and can make the appointment flow much easier for both you and for the patient. 6 A unique and innovative tinnitus assessment module sets an all new standard for tinnitus testing. Assessing tinnitus is a challenging task. Before it was a lot of switching out CDs and recalibrating each disk before you could do the actual testing. 7 New Sunshine control panel makes advanced audiometry more intuitive. MADSEN Astera 2 offers the possibility to switch from a classical view to a touch screen friendly control panel called Sunshine. The new control panel was created to make daily routine tasks even easier. It offers a visual and clean access to different settings through large, touch screen friendly icons illustrating transducers, tests and ears.
