1. Crown & bridge Wizard The Crown & Bridge Wizard can be used just as the main application for everyday use of the most basic features, or as a training method for getting familiar with the software before using the complete interface. The Wizard mode is launched independently from the full application, then, depending on the license agreement, the full application can be used to work on more complex cases. The Wizard presents this streamlined workflow through the model scan and prosthesis design (bridge, coping or full contour): 1. Launch the Wizard and create a new order. 2. In the Arch scan parameters window, select the requested resolution and specify if you want to scan an antagonist. Place the model on its holder, in the scanner and click Next. 3. Then you must position the model inside the scanner so that the area of most importance (i.e. the margin) is aligned with the centerlines: Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 2/21

4. Then, adjust the exposure using the cursor on the Exposure time scale. To achieve a correct exposure, verify that the blue and the red color appear only in very small quantity. Underexposed Correct exposure Overexposed 5. On the arch scan result, position the Clinical referential. Here is how to proceed: Place the central dot in between the centrals, on the incisal edge (or were it would be if they are not part of the model. Click and drag the Buccal handle until the orientation matches the model. Then place the edge green dots beyond distal limit; scroll while clicking for curvature adjustments. Click Next. Defining the area of interest 6. On the precise-scan result double-click on the preparations to assign tooth number. 7. Define the area for the preparation precise-scan by moving the 4 orange dots around it. 8. Remove the adjacents from the model inside the scanner then click Next. Figure 15: Removing adjacents from the model Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 3/21

9. If you have requested an antagonist scan, you will be prompted to place the checkbite on the model or the antagonist on the occlusor. Now that all scans are done, you will move on to the design parameters. 10. A margin will be automatically detected. You can examine it and modify it if desired. 11. Then the insertion axis window will open. You can set the axis manually by moving the green dot, or use the auto insertion axis. 12. A collar line will be automatically computed. Figure 16: Modifiable automatic margin detection 13. Then comes the new Adaptation step where you define a set of reference points on the adjacents. This step is explained in details in the section #4 of the present document. 14. When you click Next after doing the Adaptation, the order is carried to the CAD Engine for processing. CAD Figure 17: Toolbar to access all CAD design tools 15. The prosthesis is displayed into the equivalent of the design station. From here you can access the full set of the usual editing tools (Transforms, Add/Remove material, Contact points) to improve the design. 16. The Adaptation Environment function will let you edit the reference points that you have place on the model in step #13. This is a powerful tool for quickly adjusting the anatomy and viewing the results, while having access to a undo button. 17. Once the design is completed, press Nex to merge and export production files. At any time during the process, you can click Subcontract to carry out the order through DWOS Connect and subcontract the design, the manufacturing or both. 5 2. Virtual wax-up Figure 19: Full virtual wax-up Figure 18: Full virtual wax-up with reduced anatomies With this new feature, you can generate a virtual wax-up over a scanned model or an imported intra-oral scan of an implant case. This bypasses the need to fabricate a hand-crafted wax-up and to scan it. Based on the scan data, the software will create an automatic proposition of a full bridge on implants including soft tissues. You can afterward modify the anatomies with shaping tools and change the reference anatomy kit. Then, you can decide whether you want to generate the full contours so that only the coloring will be hand-applied; or down-sized contours or overlays if you want to build the final anatomies with ceramic. Your output files can be sent to titanium, zirconia, or other milling processes. Global gingiva With the virtual wax-up comes a complementary concept, the global gingiva, which is also parametric. After the CAD Engine has computed a proposition of a virtual gingiva, which supports the virtual wax-up, it can be moved, transformed and sculpted, similarly to the prostheses. Steps for designing a screw-retained bridge and global gingiva with the Full virtual Wax-up: Order creation 1. When defining the bridge, choose Custom abutment with waxing as prosthesis subtype and click the tooth numbers corresponding to the implants position on the arch illustration. Do not define any prosthesis type for pontics. 2. Re-select all abutments. They appear circled by a green lasso. 3. Click the Create Bridge button. Figure 20: Define "Custom abutments with waxing" on the implants position. Create a bridge including them all. Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 5/21

Scan 4. Request a gingiva scan and specify whether you want to scan an antagonist. 5. Select the checkbox Full virtual Waxing. 6. After scanning the defined zone of the model, you will precise-scan each implant and reposition them on the arch scan. 7. With the icon Edit margin on next available preparation, draw a margin around the custom abutment. The CAD Engine will refer to it to determine the emergence angle. 8. When all margins are done, exit the scan station. Figure 21: Select "Full Virtual Waxing" Design: in the design station, you can access all the options for customizing the bridge with a right-click on the bridge. 9. Edit virtual waxing: by displacing the color handles, you can adjust the orientation of the occlusal table and the global shape of the arch. Figure 22: Right-click menu Figure 23: Edit virtual waxing Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 6/21

10. Recompute virtual waxing: This window has 2 tabs. Anatomy kits: Select one from your anatomy library. Then on the arch illustration, define the span of the bridge. To do: left-click and drag to select components (or left-click each tooth individually). Right-click and drag to deselect components (or right-click on each tooth individually). Gingiva: Set virtual gingiva parameters, as width and thickness. 11. Under the Prosthesis menu: Figure 24: Recompute virtual waxing, with 2 tabs. Edit Anatomy: conventional shaping tools to apply on the anatomies. Adjust axis: If the implant kit enables for it, you can set a divergent angle for the screw hole. Recompute overlay: Select the Recompute overlay function to emulate overlays instead of full crown, you can also choose the telescopic or reduced crown. Figure 26: Adjust axis Figure 25: Create "Reduced crowns" 12. Merge: The surfaces are merged into a production-ready volume. It can still be edited with the Add/Remove tool. Note that you need to merge if you want to use the Reduce waxing feature. 13. Reduce waxing: It will shrink all surfaces according to adjustable parameters. Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 7/21

14. Under the virtual gingiva menu Edit gingiva line: Click on a tooth to activate the 4 green handles. Position them around to determine the gingiva line. Add/remove material: works the same as for prostheses. Add volumes, remove or smooth them. Using Min/max range is always a good tip to remember. Figure 27: Edit gingiva line 15. Once the bridge design is completed, you will press the Exit icon. The final merge will be calculated with the screw channels. You can undo the merging with the reverse arrow at the top. Figure 28: A "Reduced waxing" after merging Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 8/21

3. Hollow pontic This new type of prosthesis was introduced to respond to the need of reducing costly material consumption. It is all indicated for precious alloys indications, but limited to printing manufacturing processes 1. Selecting the hollow pontic option will create a kind of shell so that the cavity can be handfilled with ceramics afterward. To create a hollow pontic: 1. In the CAD station, right-click on the pontic that you want to hollow out and select Recompute. 2. In the Prosthesis window, click the Prosthesis type tab. 3. Choose the ¾ Pontic and click OK. 4. Back in the design interface, right-click on the pontic and select ¾ Pontic from the contextual menu. 5. Select Hollow Pontic checkbox, in the ¾ Crown editor window. The value that is set for the Global Reduction, will correspond to the thickness of the shell. Figure 30: Right-click menu on a pontic 6. You can also move the dots on the anatomy to design the hole contour. 7. To add a support rod, you will need to create a cylinders-shaped free attachment (refer to page16 to learn how to create them). Then you will add it as any other attachment: Figure 31: 3/4 crown editor window Right click on the location where you want to insert a support, and select Add Attachment. Select the cylinders-shaped kit. 1 The printings manufacturing processes are those that build the parts by adding material one layer at a time as opposed to milling processes by which an initial block of material is sculpted. Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 9/21

4. Improved automatic proposition A step called Adaptation Environment was added to the scan procedure. It lets you identify a subset of dental points on the adjacent teeth, so that the CAD Engine is able to analyze the context in which to compute the automatic proposition. Then, when the prosthesis appears in the CAD Station, it is already adapted to its context. The side icon menu bar presents a new icon for Adaptation Environment. It will appear right after the margin detection, the insertion axis and collar line, during the scan session. Just follow instructions in the editor window: 1. Place the Cusps on the adjacents and click the forward pointing arrow (Next). 2. Place the Marginal Ridges that are on the contact side and click Next. Note that placing the marginal ridges that face the other side could result in an inappropriate proposition. 3. Place the Fossas and the contact points. Then click OK. Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 10/21

Exit the scan session, then open the CAD Engine. When processing is done, open the case in the CAD Station. The automatic proposition will appear taking into account the information you just provided. If you wish to improve the result, of course you could apply the usual shaping tools (Transforms, Add/Remove material and clinical handles) but you could also rework the Adaptation info. Figure 32: Automatic proposition of a full crown after using the Adaptation feature. 4. To do so, right-click on the prosthesis and choose Adaptation Environment, under the Anatomy (or overlay) sub-menu. 5. You will have a combined window in which you can control many parameters, with access to the Undo function. 6. As you modify the settings (Reference points or anatomy kit), click on the Adapt button to preview the new result. 7. As you click OK, the anatomy is recomputed with the settings that were made within this window. Figure 33: New Adaptation Environment among the CAD tools Figure 34: Adaptation editor window Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 11/21

5. Retention beads new shape A new menu was added to the retention bead window from which you can choose between the default shape of beads or an improved profile. The new profile provides better compatibility with the laser sintering CAM process. As usual, you can adjust their diameter with the Radius field. Figure 35: Basic retention beads shape Figure 36: New retention beads shape 6. Veneer Subtypes Two subtypes of veneers where added to the prostheses list: reduced incisal veneer reduced buccal veneer They do not generate different kind of restoration, but allow to link a particular type of veneer to a specific material. 13 7. Anatomy libraries Figure 39: Tooth #46 from Candulor kit Figure 37: Tooth #46 from Vitapan kit Figure 38: Tooth # 46 from DW Ultra kit DWOS offers an increasing number of embedded anatomy libraries that you can choose from for easily generating a prosthesis that fits the clinical context. While some are more defined, some are smoothed to simulate wear. As you learn to work with them, your expert eye will quickly identify the kit that is closest to a case's morphologies. In your anatomy libraries, you will find a new DW Ultra kit and a completely new set from Vita, holding 5 different kits. More from Candulor, are available for download on this internet page: Once you download them, make them available to your system by following this procedure: 1. Open your anatomy library by selecting the gear icon at the top and selecting Anatomy kits. 2. Right-click on the Anatomy folder from the left pane and select Import Anatomy kit. 3. Browse to the.waflib file emplacement on your computer (download destination). Select and click Open. 4. Your new kits will be available in the Anatomy Family drop-down menu in the order creation station, and also available to apply on existing cases with the Re-Adapt Anatomy or Adaptation Environment functions upon right-click in the CAD station. Figure 40: Access to anatomy editor Figure 41: Right-click and select Import anatomy kit Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 13/21

8. Attachment libraries As you already know, DWOS provides a library of attachments that you can add to your prostheses design. In addition to the attachments for removables, we now offer attachments to be used on milled bars. The new attachment kits are available for download at: Figure 43: Bridge with Bredent attachment Figure 42: Milled bar with Rhein83 attachments Figure 45: Bar with attachments Figure 44: Rhein83 Ball attachment Once you download the kits on your computer, import them into DWOS to make them available for your designs by following this procedure: 1. Open your attachment library by selecting the gear icon on the main icon menu bar and selecting Attachment kits. 2. Right-click on the Attachments folder from the left pane and select Import Attachment Kit. 3. Browse to the «.afllib» file (download destination) and click Open. 4. The kit will appear in your library, placed in a folder with the name of the supplier. You can edit the folder name (supplier) by double-clicking on it. 5. You can view the attachment by dragging it in the main view window. From there, editing tools are available upon right-click. Figure 46: Access to attachments editor Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 14/21

6. Now back in the CAD station, you can add them to your designs by right-clicking on a prosthesis and selecting Add attachment items. An editor window will open. From there you can select the desired attachment, whether you want to place the male or female part (if applicable), and you can manage gingiva correction on the added part. Figure 47: Adding attachments from right-click menu Figure 48: Attachment insertion Editor Free attachments The free attachments are a new type that you can create from a STL file to respond to the need of adding parts of defined shapes to your designs. You can create your own kits from the Attachment Kits Editor. You would choose free as for the type and load your STL files. For your convenience, we have prepared 3 cylinder-shaped kits that are ready to be used as support rods inside the hollow pontic, as mentioned on section #4. 1. Download them here 2. In your attachment library, right-click on the Attachment folder and select Import attachment kit. 3. Browse to the Free.afllib file and click Open. 4. Back in the design station, use the Add attachment function to place them where needed. While the attachment editor is open you can scale them to the desired size using the color dots. Ball attachments Ball attachments are a new type that you can create. We have uploaded some for you to download on the ot cap, from Rhein. When placed on bars, they let you visualize the final result (figure 42), but what they actually do after merging is creating the necessary hole to insert, or snap the existing attachment on the milled bar. They include the necessary thickness of material to thread the opening when the attachment type requests for it. Hole attachments This third new type of attachments brings a totally new functionality to the CAD tools range. With these addition to the library, you will be able to create hole by placing the hole attachments on your design. They serve well for manually creating screw channels, or to lighten metallic pontics. They work just as the free attachments with the difference that after merging, the material is cut where the attachment intersects the prosthesis. *Note that a default setting enables a maximum of 2 attachments per prosthesis, all types included. This setting can be changed in the Material Management \ Manufacturing parameters \ Max Attachment. Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 15/21

9. Maximum body of implant kits When working with pre-milled custom abutments, you can turn on or off the visibility of the milling blank. Displaying the block in the CAD station enables to verify that your design doesn't exceed the maximum volume allowed by by the CAM process. 1. Right-click on the abutment. 2. Select Show Nesting Block 3. The Nesting Block will be displayed and any surface that exceeds its volume will show in red. 4. To hide, right-click on the abutment and select Hide Nesting Block. Figure 51: Right-click menu of a full contour crown on implant Figure 50: The surfaces that exceed The maximum body dimensions will become a filtering parameter for the list of potential manufacturers when subcontracting the manufacturing. For Implant kits creators If you are the person creating the implant kit, you can load a STL file of the milling blank in the implant kit editor. 5. Click the Assign button next to the Maximum Body item. 6. Browse to.stl file and click Select. Figure 52: Assign the STL file of the milling block to the Maximum Body Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 16/21

10. Automatic minimum thickness correction The minimum thickness is a design constraint that limits the transformations that you can apply. It is set to protect the thickness that a sub-structure should have in a given material to garantee the mechanical properties of the final restoration. As for the Automatic Thickness Correction, it is to decide whether or not the anatomy should be projected on it when the minimal thickness is exposed. This is done in the Waxing tool editor. When the option is activated, the anatomy reference points are moved to adopt the exposed minimum thickness contours, after validation (pressing OK). From then, their new configuration define the reference anatomy. The upside of the correction is that the transitions between the minimum thickness and other surfaces are smoother. The downside is that if you are using other transforms tools afterward, you will be starting with an altered Anatomy. Figure 53: The automatic correction is not applied Figure 54: The correction is applied Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 17/21

11. New insertion axis window The insertion axis window was slightly modified to provide the following improvement. 1. You can now move the axis dynamically by dragging the green dot. 2. When the angles are locked together (with the Same insertion axis checkbox or with the 3-axis milling constraint), you can visualize all axes moving at the same time. Figure 55: When selecting same insertion axis (or eventually 3-axis milling constraint) the axes move conjointly. 3. When the axes are free one from the other, the angle difference is displayed in degrees. If the mdifference exceeds 20º, the indicator will turn red, and you will not be able to exit the recompute editor until you fix it. The reason for the default 20º limitation is that larger angles might not execute properly on manufacturing, but this value can be changed in the Material Management \ Manufacturing parameters \ Max Angle between insertion axes to a custom angle. Figure 56: When no constraints are selected, the axes move individually, but the divergence between them is displayed Figure 57: When the divergence between individual axes exceeds 20º, the indicator turns red Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 18/21

12. Angulated abutment screw It is now possible to design angled screw hole through custom abutments that will complement the angle permissive implants. In previous DWOS versions, the screw hole was locked to the implant angle. Now, if you manually allow for it, the screw hole can vary from 0 to 20 from the implant angle. Of course this feature must be used with the appropriate implant kits. Here is how to create such a design: First, you must allow the angulation in the implant kit editor: 1. Open the implant kits editor by clicking on the gear icon from the main menu bar and selecting Implant kits from the drop-down menu. 2. Select the Implant that allows for angulated screw holes. 3. Select the checkbox Allow angled screw abutments. To create an angulated screw hole: 4. While creating the order, make sure you select the proper Implant kit from the drop-down menu. 5. Once you have scanned the model with the implants and you are working on your design, right-click on an abutment and select Adjust axis. 6. The green cylinder topped with a blue handle represents the screw hole. You can move it interactively to position the hole so that the prosthesis aesthetic is maintained. 7. The editor will not allow more than 20º difference between the screw and the hole. If your setting is not legitimate, a prompt window will warn you and you will not be able to quit the feature until the angle is suitable. Figure 58: Angulated screw on a custom abutment (3D view and sectional view). Figure 59: Select "Allow angled screw abutments" 8. The screw hole axis setting can also be done in the Recompute, under the insertion axis tab. It is represented by the yellow axis. Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 19/21

13. Angulated partial Figure 62: Angulated blocked out model for partial design This new option opens up the possibilities for better control over ease of insertion on partial designs. By setting a small angle during the survey step, you will obtain a blocked out model with non-parallel exterior angles. This can help in creating friction-free removable prostheses and improving patient's comfort. Where to set an angle for the blocked-out model: 1. In the partial design station, drag your order into the main view window. Click the first icon on the side menu bar: Survey model. 2. The survey model window will open. You will see a new field: Angle for survey. 3. Set your angle for the wax this field, then set the survey angle manually with the yellow handles on the model, as usual. 4. Once you click OK, the pink wax blocking the undercuts will adopt the selected angle. Figure 63: Survey model dialog Figure 64: Blocked model with an angle (given at the top). The dotted line shows what the model would be like without the angle. Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 20/21

14. Full integration of codiagnostix With the full integration of the sophisticated and user-friendly codiagnostix software, DWOS now includes a complete guided surgery workflow, which comprises implant planning, prosthesis design, surgical guide design and manufacturing and immediate-load provisional design and fabrication. As for all of Dental Wings products, the entire workflow is open system with a library containing more than 2000 implants, abutments and sleeve systems from all major implant manufacturers. A complete guide for using this newly integrated module is available for download here: Dental Wings Inc STI Release Notes DWOS Lava Edition (v2.0) 21/21
