Let me be the first to welcome you to our practice! Before we get started I d like to share with you a little about my training, my team and our approach to dentistry.

I also graduated from many of the premier post-graduate training programs in implant, dentures, laser therapy and cosmetics.

2 Let me be the first to welcome you to our practice! Before we get started I d like to share with you a little about my training, my team and our approach to dentistry. I am an honors graduate of Washington University School of Dentistry and have been practicing for over 30 years in the Bay Area. I also graduated from many of the premier post-graduate training programs in implant, dentures, laser therapy and cosmetics. I found these programs to be the ideal as they uphold the highest levels of quality, esthetics and professionalism in the world. My team and I pride ourselves in providing dentistry above and beyond the restrictions that common dental insurance impose on quality and esthetics. I work with only the best dental labs in the United States and use only the highest quality materials for our treatments. We also take pride in the fact that we offer the latest technology available. A great example is our use of LANAP - an effective and patient friendly alternative to gum surgery. We use this technology as it is more a more effective and less painful FDA approved way of dealing with periodontal gum disease. My team and I are one of only a few offices in the area offering such advanced therapies. During your visit be sure to ask us about some of our other technology such as laser bleaching and same day dentures.. My philosophy on dentistry can be described in three phases: The Restorative Dentistry phase is basic evaluation and repair of your teeth. The goal of this phase is to bring your teeth back to the shape and condition as they once were. To accomplish this we replace broken or leaking fillings, restore decay with crowns and bridges, fit partial and full dentures, and make minor adjustments to your bite alignment. Where necessary, gum disease is treated, or root canal therapy recommended. The prevailing belief behind restorative dentistry is a simple one: you can keep your smile for life. The Preventive Dentistry phase is our goal for every patient. It involves the daily care, good nutrition, and periodic check-ups and cleanings that are the foundation of excellent dental health. Preventive dentistry may not be where we start with every patient, but it's where we like to finish. The Cosmetic Dentistry phase takes advantage of the latest materials and techniques that make a beautiful smile accessible to everyone. Because our restorative and preventive programs have been so successful, we now have the luxury of considering cosmetic treatment for gaps, chips, discolored and crooked teeth or otherwise less-thanperfect smiles. Cosmetics range from tooth colored fillings to full smile make-overs. This booklet gives you more information about what cosmetic dentistry can offer you. 3 --Laser-assisted New Attachment Procedure (LANAP)-- For persons dealing with periodontal gum disease the process for finding a solution can be very frustrating, time consuming and costly. In addition to this, post surgical complications such as gum recession -which occurs when the body is trying to heal the areas where tissue was removed- can make your recovery seem to last forever. The problem this creates is that it exposes you, the patient, to an increased risk of infection, a potential for a poor outcome and more discomfort. But what if there was a way to improve the health of your gums while boosting the confidence you have in your smile with less pain all while utilizing an FDA approved technique? It would be a process worth considering. Right? Dr. Roos would like to introduce you to LANAP. The use of a laser in the treatment of periodontal gum disease represents a major leap forward for those persons dealing with this issue. The technology, developed over several years, has proven itself to be effective and patient friendly. In fact, 90% of persons who have the LANAP procedure regain at least some of the bone lost due to disease without scalpels, sutures and packing. As compared to the more traditional approach which is 60% effective and is achieved by surgically cutting away the dead tissue, suturing and packing. The advantage of the LANAP procedure is that it is extremely tissue focused which means the healthy gums are not harmed. The end result for those patients who use Dr. Roos and the LANAP procedure are healthier gums and, most importantly, re-growth of new and healthy tissue. The laser used by Dr. Roos for the LANAP procedure is both strong and precise at the same time. It is powerful enough to deal exclusively with your diseased tissue while being precise enough to avoid damaging healthy tissue. The advantage is a decreased potential for complications. The LANAP is an FDA approved procedure for addressing periodontal gum disease because it is safe and effective. And Dr. Roos, and his patients, have found the LANAP procedure to demonstrate significantly better results with no surgery and with much less discomfort. If you are a potential surgical candidate then you should understand that in the medical field there is an inherent risk with traditional gum surgery. Essentially, the more invasive the technique, those that require scalpels, sutures and packing, the greater the potential for unwanted complications. However, the LANAP procedure uses only laser light which minimizes collateral tissue damage, reduces post surgical complications and allows for new tissue growth. So, the short and long term advantages of using the LANAP procedure make it the right solution for dealing with your gum disease. However, you should note that it is not a procedure every dentist is able to perform. Dr. Roos has made it his mission to promote the best dental health care possible for his patients. So he only uses the newest most scientifically proven methods to get your teeth healthy and get your smile back. The denture is supposed to return your mouth to its normal state where eating, conversation and smiling are not difficult. 10 Insurance Benefits & Financial Options Many patients ask if insurance will cover all the services that Dr. Roos offers. The simple answer is that your insurance should help you keep your smile healthy. Most insurance plans are geared towards preventative care such as cleanings, exams and x-rays. They typically provide minimal benefits towards restorative dentistry such as crowns and bridges etc. and even less towards cosmetic dentistry. Rest assured that we will do everything we can to maximize your insurance reimbursement - and minimize your out-of-pocket expense. We can provide insurance claims for all PPO insurance carriers/plans. While we may not be directly contracted with all of them, we can assist you with the reimbursement process. Once you have paid for your services (on the service date) we will print out claim forms, give you an extra copy, and mail in the originals to the insurance company. Most of our patients receive their benefits check within a few weeks. For those services not covered by insurance we offer a number of payment methods including interestfree payment plans. Please ask our team about all the options. Dr. Roos approach to dental insurance is simple: I don t let the numerous insurance policies and their recommendations get in the way of providing outstanding, excellent dentistry whether preventative, restorative or cosmetic. Dental insurance should be viewed as a form of financial assistance rather than something that dictates what you should or should not do with your smile.
