1 The Maryland Department of Health publishes a comprehensive guide to affordable dental care that can be used in conjunction with this guide to providers serving Montgomery County residents. Please consult the state guide for a full listing of resources. The state guide can be accessed at: Please note that most of the providers require appointments. Affordable Dentures (Columbia East Marketplace) 7351 Assateague Dr., Suite 480, Jessup, MD Phone: young adults M-F, 7:30-4 English Offers dentures, partial dentures, denture repairs, implants, tooth extractions, sedation dentistry, X-rays, and gold crowns on dentures. No insurance accepted. Prefer appointments. Walk-ins accepted but may be longer wait. A complete set of dentures ranges from $755 to $2,085, including exam and X-rays. Children's National Health System 111 Michigan Ave. NW, Washington, DC Phone: Children 8 or younger, patients with special needs 14 or younger and new patients older than 14 after consultation with a dentist M-F, 8:30-4:30, by appointment English, with interpreters available for other languages Among the conditions treated are tooth decay, toothache, gum problems, early childhood caries, and dental emergencies. Depending on the child's needs, the clinic also offers routine dental check-ups and cleanings, oral sedation dentistry and treatment under general anesthesia, sealants, fillings and crowns, and wisdom teeth extraction. Orthodontics, braces, and oral surgery are also offered. The hospital accepts most insurance plans and Medicaid. Eligible patients may receive discounted services through the hospital's Financial Assistance Policy. 4 Donated Dental Services (Maryland Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped) 8901 Herrmann Dr., Columbia, MD Phone: Physically and mentally challenged adults By appt. only, M-F, 8:30-4:30 (office hours) English There are 35 participating dentists in Montgomery County who provide free dental care to the physically and mentally challenged. Dentists work out of their offices. Care includes X-rays, cleaning, fillings, etc. Participating specialists also provide free care. Partial and full dentures provided as a part of overall oral health. There is a 10- to 24- month waiting list depending on the Maryland county. Serves all of Maryland. 5 Howard University College of Dentistry Dental Clinics 600 W St. NW, Washington, DC Phone: /0008 (new patients); (patient information); (children's dental clinic) children up to age 18 Mon., Tues., Thurs., and Fri.: 10-1 and 2-5; Wed.: 9-noon and 2-5; by appointment except for emergencies, which are on a first-come, first-served basis from 9-4; the pediatric clinic hours are M-F, 9-5, with the last appointment at 2 English, Spanish, interpreter services Clinics offer an extensive range of dental treatments and oral health care services for adults and children, including partial and full dentures. All services are fee-for-service. The initial exam and X-ray is $149. Dental treatment in the predoctoral clinic is provided by dental and dental hygiene students under the supervision of faculty members. Prospective students are primarily selected on the basis of their teaching potential and therefore may not be accepted into the predoctoral program. When this occurs, patients are referred to one of the college's postdoctoral programs for evaluation. Patients who are not accepted into a postdoctoral program will receive a list of private practitioners for possible care. Postgraduate dentists also provide general dental treatment and specialized care in oral and maxillofacial surgery, pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. The clinics are open year round, but close for one month during the summer. Mary's Center Dental Clinics 3912 Georgia Ave. NW, Washington, D.C and at 100 Gallatin St. NE, Washington, DC Phone: (available 24/7) Children and adults Georgia Avenue location: Mon.-Sat., 8-6, last appointment at 5:30; Gallatin St. location: Mon.- Fri., 8-6, last appointment at 5:30 English, Spanish, Cleanings, sealants, fillings, root canals, extractions, crowns and bridges, full and partial dentures, and periodontal care. Sliding fee scale for uninsured patients. For initial appointment, bring photo ID, proof of address, list of benefits, employment information and pay stubs for the latest month; if unemployed, bring notarized letter from person supplying support, if any. The clinics are able to treat homebound patients with mobile dentistry equipment. Page 5

No dentures or crowns are provided. Serves only Montgomery Cares patients 19 years and older. Patients in need of specialty care are given information for appropriate resources for follow up care. $20 for adults per visit,$10 for maternity patients, $30 for emergencies. Mid-Maryland Mission of Mercy Free adult dental clinic held every other year. For information, visit om or (see Southern Maryland Mission of Mercy in this guide) Adults 18 and up The next clinic will be held in September 2019, date and time to be announced, at the Xfinity Center, 2001 Paint Branch Dr., University of Maryland, College Park, MD English/Spanish Patients will be seen on a first-come first-served basis and slots fill quickly. Dental services include cleanings, X-rays, restorative fillings, and extractions. All dental services are provided by licensed dentists and hygienists. Sponsored by Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Washington; UMD Center for Health Equity, School of Public Health; and the Maryland State Dental Association. Mission of Mercy Maryland/Pennsylvania Mobile Dental Program Frederick Church of the Brethren 201 Fairview Ave., Frederick, MD Administrative Offices: Adults 18 and up, in-state or out-of-state; free to everyone Twice monthly on Mondays, hours: 9-4, extractions only (no wisdom teeth), walk-ins only, no appointments, doors open at 8, but many patients line up during the early morning hours; for schedule, visit aryland-pennsylvania/clinicschedule/ English/Spanish The free dental program is staffed by one volunteer dentist per day, seeing a maximum of 10 patients per day. Only extractions are available at the Frederick clinic. Mission of Mercy clinics at Reisterstown, Taneytown and Brunswick offer fillings and extractions. Page 6

7 Muslim Community Center New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD Phone: Adults 18 and up 9-5, 7 days/week, appointments until midafternoon; appointments only English/Spanish; other languages: language line Offers all dental services, including dentures. New patients should register online and they will be called for an appointment. There is a $25 consulting fee for new patients providing an ID and proof of income; those without documentation will be charged a $50 fee for a consultation. Fees for dental work are on a sliding scale depending on family income. Rockville Pike Dental Clinic 1401 Rockville Pike, 3rd floor, Rockville, MD Phone: Children, adults, maternity, M-F, 8-4:30, by appointment Basic dental services are provided, including examinations, cleanings, fillings, extractions and root canals for the front teeth (no molars). Thurs. 8:30-8, by appointment, limited number of emergency walk-ins accepted daily at 8:30 English/Spanish Preventive and restorative services include oral exams, X-rays, prophylaxis, root canals, fillings and partial dentures. Fees are according to family income. New patients or those who haven't been served for more than a year should bring a photo ID and proof of income and residency. The Georgia Avenue clinic requires a referral from a primary doctor at any medical clinic in Montgomery County or from the Spanish Catholic Center medical clinic in order to receive dental services. No referral needed for D.C. residents at the Monroe Street clinic. *DOCTOR'S REFERRAL NEEDED United Way of Central Maryland Project Homeless Connect Adults 18 and up Holds two free clinics a year, a two-day clinic in Baltimore and a one-day clinic at another Maryland location; 8-5 each day English/Spanish Partners with the University of Maryland School of Dentistry with the goal of holding a free clinic once a year in Baltimore. The next Baltimore clinic is tentatively scheduled for October 2018, with location to be announced in April Clinics are open to anyone over the age of 18. Please consult web site or call Project Homeless Connect for upcoming clinics and locations. The first day of the clinic focuses on social service resources, as well as dental services, with the second day devoted to dental services. Cleanings, fillings and extractions are provided, but no root canals, crowns or dentures. Arrive early, clinic is on a first-come, first-served basis, with some patients camping overnight. No ID or other documents needed. Page 9

10 Unity Health Care Operates five dental clinics in Washington, DC For appointments, call children ages 3 and up. Mainly serve D.C. residents, but Maryland residents are accepted. Dental clinics are located at the Anacostia Health Center, 1500 Galen St. SE, Washington, D.C ; Brentwood Health Center, 1251-B Saratoga Ave. NE, Washington, D.C ; East of the River Health Center, th St. NE, Washington, D.C ; Parkside Health Center, 765 Kenilworth Terrace NE, Washington, D.C ; and Upper Cardozo Health Center, th St. NW, Washington, D.C Dental services are provided 8-3:30. other languages; also, telephone language line Full range of dental services, except for braces. Appointments preferred, limited number of same day walk-ins are accepted, call first for an appointment if possible. New patients currently being accepted at Anacostia and East of the River clinics only. All insurance plans, except for Kaiser, are accepted. There is a $203 fee for three initial screening visits. Fees are typically lower than private dental practices, with the lowest fees in the Predoctoral Dental Clinic where students provide services under the supervision of faculty dentists. Financial aid and monthly payment schedules are available with proof of income. The various clinics participate with several insurance companies and some participate with Medical Assistance and Healthy Smiles dental programs.
